IMO Leafs would not want to get so close to the cap so it can pay it's performance bonuses in the current year. The truth is Gudbranson isn't that good. Think the Leafs would rather play Dermot or Rosen and see what they have at the NHL level. Even resigning Polak if healthy would be a much better value than Gudbranson.

I think this would be a terrible trade for the Leafs because Gubranson is too slow in today's NHL to be the shut down type defenceman that Leafs could use.

He was very weak last year even though he was paired with Hutton who is a good young defenceman which is probably the reason why Florida sent him packing. I do think the Canucks will try to trade him this year before his value drops lower.
