We will see if he continues to play well but yes someone will take Russel. maybe not a second but it's not a 6/7 He has remained useful and we shall see how it plays out this year. I believe he did really well last year.

It's only the first two years that it's a full no trade and no movement. oilers have options the next two

Yeah the odds of both Sekera and Russel waiving their NMC is slim to none.

Russell only has a NTC the first two years... When looking long term it wouldn't be shocking at all for the Oilers to move him in year 3 or 4. His contract is front loaded big time. So I could easily see a budget team like the Avs, Coyotes etc... trade for him. Help you reach the cap while only actually paying him a fraction of it.

Personally I think Carolina trades Hanifin for Duchene or something of the like and then decides to reunite Sekerawith Faulk. Then Russell stays and Nuge gets traded for a yound defensemen ie Shea theodore
