Of course Tavares is a free agent after the season. . . . so Edmonton won't be able to move him . . . . there is that!

No team is going to trade a top 5 pick in this year's deep draft, to only obtain negotiating rights with an UNRESTRICTED free agent. That is the dumbest thing a GM of a lottery team could do and would result in immediate termination if he did so.

So if they don't win the Cup, they basically trade Yamamoto, Nurse, Puljujarvi, and a 1st for a 1st and a 2nd.
