Can you (or anyone) explain why Turris who is under contract to Ottawa and playing for Ottawa, gets to negotiates a new contract with another team. I can't think of one example when this has ever happened.

why trade him when we can get him on UFA! He won't have to move his family that far!!! He would live in MTL, which is a way nicer city than Ottawa! The wife will be happy, his kids will be happy.

-> you can't trade a guy with one year left for a guys like chucky with 3 years left on his contract..... But if the senator sign a contract with him before trading him... i mean, sure

I think if Ottawa could sign Turris for 6 mil., we should hang on to him. Also those deals within the division are very hard to get done. As for Ceci, because he is an RFA at seasons end, I would still let the season play out. I think there will be a lot of options on the RD.
As far as in season deals, I can see Wideman being dealt, Hammond obviously, and I think Nick Paul would benfit from a fresh start. With the Sens looking for Salary relief (Hammond), and a bottom six veteran forward that they did not find in camp, in the 2 mil range.

I don't think I said anything about a contract negotiated before. I would assume the Habs would give him what he wants because they need a center. Sign and trades are possible though. But I'll play your game, Alex Burrows last year. Waived to go to the Sens and signed an extension quickly after. It was reported that was part of waiving his NTC

You can literally say that about any trade deadline deal... lol. As a team whose window is closing rapidly I'd feel you'd want a top line centre as soon as possible? Unless you want to waste another year of Price and Co?

I agree, in no way do I want Turris gone, I hope he stays till he retires. Just having fun really. I don't think they would trade Ceci either because they love him too much but it's hard seeing him have to scramble after a mistake then slam his stick after the puck goes in the net time and time again lol. You're probably right about Wideman, I'd love to see Jaros in that bottom RHD pairing. But he probably needs AHL time

Cmac66. I hate disagree with a CapFriendly poster with such great legs, (that is a picture of you isn't it). Ottawa who is playoff contention isn't going to allow Turris to negotiate a deal with a competitor Montreal. And what is the no deal, is made, Turris goes back to the Pens for the rest of the year. Please don't compared 4th line Burrows who was on a out of the playoff team, the Canucks like Ottawa. And really what's in for Turris? Can't he just wait and be a UFA and see what the all teams have to offer.
MTLaverage: Even better for Turris or (any NHL player), have your family stay in their hometown and move to Montreal in the regular season. Rich athlete, living alone in Montreal. What can happen?rock on
