why does vegas make that trade, so pens have cap room to sign neal

So many things wrong with this. First of all, the Vegas trade is basically Lindberg and Neal for Hagelin. Lindberg for Hags and the pick isn’t enough for Vegas to make that trade.
Second, no way Neal takes a pay decrease. Especially if he keeps it up.
3rd Horny probably doesn’t take a pay decrease either. Someone will pay for him.
4th, some team will probably pay more for Cole too.
5th, Sprong hasn’t played a single game for the pens, no way in hell are they gonna give him a 1.9 million contract over 3 years. At best he will get 750k for a year or 2
