Would AZ have to retain salary until 2030?
If so, what are you smoking?
And, we gave Toronto Timmins for an AHL guy... he is yours to keep.
Maybe CO wants him back... we gave them real value for him.

This is interesting but I am not sure Armstrong would do it.
He wanted a 1st for Dumba and a 1st for Zucker if we retained 50% on each.
I think that is a bit of a high ask but I don't know much.
The fact that the 1st round offered here is a 2026 pick lends me to believe it is a more accurate value for 1 of those guys.
I think Armstrong would rather have a 2026 1st than a 2024 2nd even if a 4th or such was added to 2024 2nd.
Both Mikheyev and Åman have some value but I am not sure it is very much.
If Armstrong really likes both of those guys... it may be enough.
If not, it would require an additional asset.
I could see Zucker filling the 2LW job and Dumba playing 2RD or 3RD depending on pairings.
But, Vancouver has 9 defenders listed on their website.
How would you set the defensive pairings?

AZ paid to take Johanson 2
You can substitute Casey Mittelstadt (Buffalo Sabres) or Scott Laughton (Philadelphia Flyers) instead of Adam Henrique (Anaheim Ducks).
The players/picks would be the same/similar otherwise. The retention would change based on salary.
If you think different picks would balance better... please elaborate.
I myself would prefer Mittelstadt.

3 way COL all-in
Frozen tool usage chart has Bjug as "Average Top 6 Shutdown Forward".
He has a CF% 50.06 and a GF% 54.41 and a FO% 49.7 while playing 2C in AZ.
Someone said his FO% was 23rd in the league right now.
He is also one of our best penalty killers.
He is signed through next season.
You could say that he is more of a 3C on a playoff team but I think he is as close as CO can get right now.
But, AZ would not trade him under the structure listed here, if at all.

The going rate for 25% retained is a 4th for 50% retained is a 3rd from what I have seen so far.
AZ only has 2 retention slots available and are likely to use them on outgoing trades (Zucker-Dumba).
There are other teams more likely to retain salary but I believe the 3rd and 4th are realistic depending on amount.
The late 1st round is not worth as much this year as previous years.
There is apparently a big drop-off around the 20th pick.
This is not completely out of wack for AZ but I cant see AZ trading a Center without getting one back
So, AZ could possibly trad Bjug and retain on Allen but would not give up the 4th and would keep Ritchie instead of the 1st.
That would leave AZ with Bjug and the equivalent of a 3rd (50% retained on Allen) for Ritchie.
That would leave MON with Allen and Kovacevic for Johansen and a 1st (COL). So, probably not worth it for MON.
But If you want Ritchie... Find your own Center.
EDIT: Sorry just noticed Allen has an extra year of contract. AZ would NOT retain on that at all.

Avs 2C plus RD

I don't know who you think the best player is but I am thinking it is Kerfoot.
Johansen has always been a negative player and I only included him to balance cap.
He isn't absolutely terrible but COL probably has to pay someone to take him.
Byram has potential but I hear he is playing on 3rd line because he has some defensive liabilities. Is that true?

I think AZ-COL make good trade partners this deadline.
Can potentially substitute Schmaltz or Bjugstad for Kerfoot.
I would rather trade Kerfoot because I like the chemistry Schmaltz has with Hayton-Keller & Bjugstad has with Maccelli-Crouse.
But, Kerfoot has proven he can move up and down to any line.
Kerfoot is also one of our best penalty killers so that would be tough.
It seems neither Johansen or Byram are living up to expectations but I don't follow the Avs enough to know for sure.
The draft picks may need to change to balance trade better.
I included Ritchie because I liked him at draft and was hoping he ended up in AZ.
AZ also has some bottom 6 Centers in minors that could make it easier for COL to let Ritchie go.

Schmaltz can play center and kind of does it often.
