In all fairness to the creators idea, Dobson being signed already is not official technically so could be realistic; but i do the the isalnders will not let him go regardless

Calgary would be better off try to send a qualifying offer to Robertson and paying dallas the draft picks(if they have them) than trying to trade for his rights
This is an easy decline from Dallas, there’s no assets of close to Robertson’s value that are included.</div></div>

I mean we wouldnt invest 5mil into a 3rd pair declining dman wether its next year or 5yr from now lol. We would be better off investing into a fwd in any given offseason since we have one of the deepest prospect pools in the league; would be better off starting a younger player on a much smaller cap hit

If im Montreal and i want a shot at the 1st or 2nd overall pick id keep the team as is and just bring up a backup or sign a backup on a low $ 1yr contract. Only move that i might make is trying to trade Drouin and 2023 2nd rd pick for a 1st rd pick or a prospect with a top6/middle 6 potential or top 4 dman prospect and a 3rd rd pick

Jets go full tank modetrade for future Does this help them long term or not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>No I understand that you're trying to do full tank mode. But when you do that you try to trade your players for good young players or picks not garbage. Like the Montreal trade for example.
You're going about it in a half assed way. Trading good players for far less than their worth, taking back older, worse players and then trading away a first to move Wheeler and then taking back a cap dump in JVR. You just didn't stick to your plan.</div></div>
Well on the contrary i did pick up very good or elite prospects and kept some from farm, for example:
(LW)-Perfetti-Vesalainen
(RW)-Holtz
(C)-Kent Johnson-Brendan Brisson
(LD)-Provorov-Sanderson-Samberg
(RD)-Addison-Stanley

Phi trade was to acquire slightly younger dman and taking JVR for 1 year helps lower his price.
Min trade is for a potential 1st pair ofd and taking 50% of Wheelers contract for 2 years makes the deal more ideal for the Wild.
Vgs trade is for a potential #1/#2 center and another good prospect while filling Vegas need for a goalie
Think you forgot in this thread that the Jets go full tank mode for 1-2 years for a faster rebuild

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Why not sign Kadri for pennies on the dollar then?</div></div>
Even with this logic would you want to sign a 31yo 2nd/3rd line center to a 5-7yr deal even if it was for 6-7.5mil… gm already said we wont pull a Tampa and hold Pacioretty on LTIR until playoffs so he will be coming back after the All-Star break given recovery goes as planned. That being said in order to even come close to signing Kadri would need to dump Gardner and maybe even Kase or bears as well to make it work and even though it gives us a better shot a winning a cup within next 1-2 years we would be shooting our selves in the foot essentially not being anle to sign key pieces or prospects in the future and turning from a team that could be a cup contender for the next 1-4 years to turning into just a playoff contender with 1 maybe 2 good shots at a cup

Pasta wants 8 years100m. That’s 12.5. Market has been set. He does not come in at less than 9.5 per.
Those expiring contracts are a non factor. They were already gone and off the books.
It just not feasible.
I created an ACGM for next year.
Signed Pasta-10. Zacha-5. Sway-4. Frederic-2. Brought up Lysell, Beecher, Studnicka, Greer for cheap options to fill roster.
At that point they were 1m under the cap with a 21 man roster and no allowance for bonus overages.
They will have to move contracts in order to sign Bergy and DK if they choose to continue and make improvements , like Reilly, Forbort, Coyle, Ullmark as possibilities.
Taking on extra to this mess is just not an option.
Good talking to you. 👍🏻 I gotta get to bed, long day tomorrow.</div></div>
No worries mate great debate but if you have tome for 1 more response… if boston isnt a playoff team come the deadline id want to sell Pasta for as much as possible lol, always a chance he wants to come back come time to sign

What Shouldve Happened
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>It did not appear Fitzy put a full court press on Gaudreau. It sounded to me like we made an offer and didn’t call him back when he wanted to say “yes”. Once Fitzy had boxed out Philly and NYI, it sounded like he bailed. Or maybe he just felt obligated to kick the tires due to he personal connection to Gaudreau family. Who knows?
Gaudreau is one of my favorite non-Devils and it would be awesome to see him in Newark. But I also subscribe to the belief that signing him may not be the best long-term move.</div></div>
Exactly what I thought for long term outlook on this team. Devils could be one of the very few who don’t need to make any big trades within next 3-6 years they can just grab someone from free agency during the season when needed or big signings at the end of a season, don’t need/want to break up this current young core or the future prospects you’ve developed for the past few years just for a taste of the playoffs again because if they play the next 1-2 years right/smart they have a team that could not only be a cup contender for many years but possibly 5-10 years in a row of a playoff caliber team

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Ya 25m with 13 players signed. Let’s say Bergy and DK both retire.
Pasta, Zacha, Swayman, Frederic going to take about 21m, leaving 4m for 6 players. The top 2 centers are Zacha and Coyle. And oh ya, there will likely be bonus overages from Bergy and DK.
See a problem?
Cap issues this year, cap issues next year. Foligno not waiving for Peg. No way it works. And Boston sure as hell are not giving up picks or quality prospects to do it.</div></div>
I can see DK taking another team friendly contract 2-3yr 2-3mil/swayman 3-4yr 2-3mil/Zacha 2-3yr 3.5-4.5mil/ Fredrick 1-3yr 2-3mil/ Pasta 7yr 8-8.5mil(21mil) but given expiring contracts like Craig Smith, Chris Wagner, and Connor Clifton you would have more than enough to resign depth players and if you want given Bergeron signs another very friendly team deal, and at the end of the day you could still sell Wheeler if hes producing still for good price given Jets hold 50% of contract

I think Suzuki would get the Canes to bite the bullet, but I think Drury is a bridge too far. He's the only NHL ready forward prospect right now, and they already need him to fill the 4C role. I can't see Drury being used.</div></div>
Could easily fill that roll on a 1 yr 1mil deal for Paul Stastny or Sam Steel to fill the 4c role if we can keep the room for Pacioretty at the end of the day. That would be my biggest thing Canes would think about this season since we could be a cup contender this year. Other than that id say its pretty fair tbh, tho id rather see Suzuki in trade vs Drury we would have Ehlers for the next 3 years

The reason they did not buyout Foligno was they could not carry his dead cap hit next year. They sure as hell are not retaining anything.</div></div>
For sure would be tough to work around the cap next year but adding him to the team even if its just 1 year gives you a better chance making it to the playoffs and possibly a deep run. On the other hand for your cap argument next year given they don’t give any extensions during the season, Boston will have around 24-24.5mil to work with
