hes not a just a 3c hes a fine middle 6 center. can play 2c in a pinch just not as effective when he does.

Getting the old band back
The lowest the Pens would go would be in the $75mil range. Also it has been reported that the "report" of the Pens having an internal cap, was false, so choose what you want to believe. The only issue with this roster is that no matter what us Pens fans want, JJ is going to be in the line-up next season. So whatever ACGM's do, they need to keep JJ in the line-up, it sucks, but it is what it is. Also the problem with assuming that Horny will be the one to go, is that he has a full NTC this season, so he has to want to go and the team getting him has to have the cap space available.

But Bonino for picks/prospects is fair</div></div>
Turris isn't a bad player, it's just his contract that is. He's pretty much immovable right now, unless NSH takes a bath in retained salary and/or assets to in a trade. Best to keep him and play him for now. If he fully rebounds like he's been on track to since Hynes was hired, he'll regain some value. Either a team with injuries or depth issues takes a flyer on him, or possibly Seattle can be convinced to take him.

If Grubauer is hurt and will miss the start of the season sure.....if hes healthy I dont think there is any incentive for Avs to be trading assets on goalies
the deals fine but the logic behind the deal still doesnt add up for the avs.
Murray int an upgrade in net, hes a bigger risk with a bigger price tag

You can get Hartman if you want a RH RW. Kunin is not on the table for Murray. And frankly the latest rumors I've seen don't even list Minnesota as one of the top 5 or so suitors at this point, which is good, because for the price Penguins fans want, and the contract Murray wants, I'll gladly stay far away. We already have Kahkonen ready to go.

I definitely feel bad for Chucky. He was a high pick that didn’t live up to expectations set on him by fans and media. I was glad that he got a new chance to play in more anonymity when he got traded to Arizona, but it’s unfortunate it hasn’t worked out anywhere.
I don’t blame the coaches though. Galchenyuk just wasn’t good enough to play in the top 9, and because of where he was drafted, that was viewed as a terrible thing by the media.

As a person off the ice when he’s completely separate from hockey, I love PK. He’d make a great analyst. But I’m not sure that that kind of personality would mesh in a locker room.

I thought Habs could have gotten a draft pick in the deal as well. The writing was on the wall, so I wasn't surprised he was traded, but I thought he had more value than Weber at the time.

I don't think Subban would have regressed like this on Montreal. He fit the system well and was a great offensive dman.
Sergachev is also 3rd pair because of the talent in front of him blocking him from moving up.
Columbus series Sergachev was an absolute beast making great defensive plays to save his team. He is 100% noticeable and will only get better from here.
He is also not being rushed because there's no need to. He's got a better chance of hitting his ceiling like this as he gets to learn the game at a better pace learning from the likes of Victor Hedman and McD.</div></div>

I didn't find Shaw worth that much. Especially if the team just moved one of their best C's to acquire 1 of those 2nds</div></div>
Sorry to nitpick, but Ellers deal was two future 2nd, not that draft. As someone that LOVES watching the draft, I was pretty pissed off we traded 2x2nd, but ended up liking Shaw.

I guess I just liked Shaw then. Because I thought he brought enough value for 2x2nd. Chicago hitting a homerun with that pick shouldn't matter.

Okay, but two months earlier, J-Bo hadn't nearly died on the bench. And I know it was an overpay, but this is how the deadline deals go. It was a cup-chasing matter at the time. I'm not going to criticize Army for pulling that trigger.
Now, signing Scandy to a juicy four-year deal after a dozen good games in the Bluenote is another story...

Both teams probably look at it as an A+ for themselves. Which is probably the best outcome. There is no embarrassment, and they can continue being trade partners.

Also we traded Shaw back to Chicago recouping one of those picks so didnt turn out horrible.

Rather solid analysis, but there is one thing that makes me go hmmm...
"2 picks, one being a 2nd for a guy [Scandella] who normally would slot as a 6/7th D on most teams"
I agree that Bergy did well to grab a decent pick+ for a pending RFA. However, he partnered Parayko on the defending champs/West leaders, so maybe the Habs just didn't get the most out of him.

Not bad, not bad
I would say the Pacioretti trade worked out for Vegas just as good as it did for Montreal. I mean Suzuki is doing great and Tatar is not bad either, but also, Vegas will go to another round in the playoffs and Pacioretti is a key piece there. So I don't think they regret that trade either. Montreal is just rebuilding and Vegas is not.
