To be honest, the Phil Kessel trade was good for Toronto. But man Pittsburg was a powerhouse after getting Kessel. They won that trade. Overall, Rutherford is s good Gm. I’d take him over Dubas.

The Bortuzzo/Cole trade was one of this rare win-wins. Bortz has done yeoman's service for us, including on our Cup run.

Well if it counts for anything the one oilers trade you rated low. Oilers turned around and used that pick much stupider.
The others fleeced us on realistically couldn’t have asked for a better return in either case. Shultz was well past the point of no return in Edmonton it just got too bad he wasn’t going to rebound without a new home. Considering his play at the time very lucky return for oilers.
Marino is what it is tough situation and I honestly didn’t think he’d ever become the guy he already is think that one kinda took everyone by surprise.
I’d just rather Pitts doesn’t inquire about our d anymore.

overall I think he did a decent job. He has won the cup several times so I think he deserves an A. Pitt will miss him when hes gone.

Ya, I think Rutherford did a pretty bangup job. I think the Zucker trade is an overpayment. Addisson is going to be good and Galeynchuk still has potential plus a 1st.
Also, Edmonton needs to stop trading with Pittsburgh.

I mean he did bring in key pieces that got 2 cups, so I'll give him an A- but he's had some real head scratchers here lately. I'm not going to be to harsh about the Kapanen trade yet but it do feel like its an over-payment, but I've been wrong about some of his trades before. I was critical of the Perron and Hagelin trade and I was woefully wrong about that one.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vic997</b></div><div>Why would Buffalo not consider Bjugstad for 3C for free (is a UFA) for moving up in the draft this year?
Also, Minnesota is getting a good prospect, a pick, a starting goalie, a young LD for a 33 year old backup and Greg Pateryn</div></div>
because we cant just take on 4.1 million without moving salary out

And the yotes need cap space, especially if they want to keep hall/sign someone in his place to keep the better draft pick, try simon

I think this trade has come up a few times lately, but Winnipeg can't afford to trade a center they need for a defenseman they don't.

Thoughts on this Sabres fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vic997</b></div><div>Quote from the linked article:
I like the idea of Bjugstad because I’d put him on a line with Dylan Cozens. I can start Bjugstad at center and it allows Cozens to get his feet wet in the NHL playing on the wing. It’s less responsibility out of the gate and he can focus on creating offense. Then as the season moves along he can transition to center and Bjugstad can move to the wing. This is the same path that the Chicago Blackhawks used with Kirby Dach this season.
Montour’s name was in the news this week with the rumor that the Sabres may not extend him a qualifying offer. That leads me to believe his value is low on the market as an arbitration-eligible restricted free agent that is only one year from unrestricted free agency.
Getting a third line forward and mid-round pick should be seen as a success at this point even though it’s a far cry from the price the Sabres paid to acquire him.
TB Trade:
They have other players like Mathieu Joseph, Taylor Raddysh, Alex Barre-Boulet, and Mitchell Stephens that can play the same role as Verhaeghe.</div></div>
Kevyn Adams debunked that nonsense rumor. They aren't trading top prospects for bottom 6ers and top 4 dman for cap dumps.

It's pretty much a pick your poison scenario lol</div></div>
Yeah I just think Montour is a bad choice. I would look to move that JJ contract somehow and maybe see if a team would take someone like Hornqvist. Find a bottom Rd guy in free agency, and maybe even upgrade upfront in free agency- maybe one of those Florida guys. I still don't understand why this team made that Kahun trade.

Man, GM should just admit his awful mistake and do whatever to get rid of JJ. Everything I have heard about him is that he is a great guy, but buddy is a black hole. Now you have to drag a good dman like Marino down by playing him with JJ. Marino should be going against top comp, which you can't do if you play him with JJ. Also with Montour, that 2nd pair will bleed chances.

Makes a ton of sense on both sides.
Not to mention that it’s inevitable that Botterill ends up back with PIT and Montour was his guy.

Thornton - Marchant - May
Niedermayer - Beauchemin
O'Donnell - Pronger
Huskin - Dipenta

Then what was with all the summer ACGMs with Sabre’s fans moving Risto for next to nothing. All the sudden he is doing good for them and he’s their #1 dman now? Over Dahlin even?

Still a great player with amazing net-front presence.
If the pens really wanted to get a younger forward for him, they'd package him to Minnesota for Jason Zucker.</div></div>
I was doing this over the summer and got absolutely fried for it. But as of right now I think getting a defenseman back makes the most sense especially if they’re still trying to move JJ.

Krazy Kaprizov Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vic997</b></div><div>I think the biggest problem on the Wild is the lack of an elite 1/2C.
Eric Staal is okay but he's nearing the bottom end of his career and frankly shouldn't be relied on for 1st line C duties.
Unless Eriksson Ek can break out soon, the Wild have a huge need for a center right now.
You also can't really rebuild with the Suter, Parise, Zuccarello contracts so maybe try to acquire a solid center via trade. I really like the wingers on the wild but on center its basically eric staal and a bunch of bottom-6 Cs.</div></div>
Good points, but what my plan here is to try to acquire future pieces to have this team ready to roll when the bad contracts and/or old players are gone. The Wild have spent 20 years spinning their wheels trying to win now and it hasnt worked...at all! They need to trade anyone and everyone they can to load up on as many picks and players/prospects under 22 as possible...lose as many games as possible for the next 2-3 years...and actually build something...NOT continually put lipstick on a pig! Otherwise, the next 20 years will be exactly the same... What’s the definition of insanity again???

That is the highest risk/reward option imo
Otherwise it is a crapshoot on who wins starting jobs/gets majority of starts. Raanta, Lehner, Varlamov, and Markstrom are all solid options but I think they are all in 1A/1B situations.</div></div>
I’d switch Raanta for Saros because of that logic as well.
