True, the extreme gm talent to build a roster like this is better than anyone has ever seen before

Each one of those four trade proposals is seared into my memory. The Quick one was particularly galling, and I'm overjoyed that you included the creator's rationalization for it.

Bertuzzi, Seider, 1st for Kerfoot, Holl, 2nd is my all time favourite CFACGM trade. It was almost a year ago IIRC.

The Tavares for Doughty trade isn't terrible. Neither team (nor players) would actually go for it, but it's not insanely off in value like the other trades.

Kings wrap up their rebuild but wont in reality
I get you're just asking a question, but these trades border on trolling levels of terrible. Almost worthy of a report.
1) That Florida trade is horrendous. No, the Kings are not going to give up their franchise, Hall-of-Fame-bound 1RD for the albatross contract of a constantly terrible goaltender. Like... what?
2) Same reasoning as the Doughty trade, but at least it's a pick and a prospect. However, there is zero chance Kopitar is traded. Let's not talk about the massive amount of retention and the mediocre return.
3) The Kings won't trade Sean Walker until he's proven he can be back on the ice. And even if they did, he's STILL worth more than a 5th. That's a terrible trade as well.
4) The only trade that relatively favors LA is the Coyotes trade, but what interest do they have in Edler, a 37 year old, slowing defenseman.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Greysuits</b></div><div>The Sabres trade is not a bad idea, particularly if they can't sign Johnson and Portillo, but the Sabres already filled the needs that Quick and Roy would have filled. I also don't see them giving up a second in the deal.</div></div>
5) I'm sure Sabres fans love that trade. It's terrible from the Kings point of view. Roy is worth a 1st ++ and the Kings aren't trading their starting goaltender. Peterson hasn't grabbed the reigns, and even if he had, the Kings have no capable NHL backup. Awful.

IMO The Best Spot for Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Artman91</b></div><div>The only way we’d get Chychrun is during deadline and the most we’d offer is Turcotte + Walker + 1st. Take it or leave it offer. We’re no dying to have Chychrun. We can have alternative options for a much less steeper price.</div></div>
Normally, I'd agree with you 100%, but the rumor that Alex just failed his pre-camp physical might make Arizona loath to take him, so this offer might be unrealistic. We might have to offer some package like Fa-gem-o or Helenius plus Madden or Pinelli plus Walker plus our 2024 first.

A couple quick deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KM87</b></div><div>Sorry, I should've specified. Yes, one or the other. Preferably Spence. Likely another piece from LA as well to even out the deal.</div></div>
LA doesn't add in a Grans or Spence for Sandin swap. The "another piece" that Toronto gets is a signed defenseman on a six-figure contract instead of a contract holdout.

Thread:
A couple quick deals
-Why is LA giving up two strong RD prospects on their ELCs for an LD that they have to give a new contract to? Mayyyybe you can swing a deal for one or the other, but bad use of assets for the Kings here.
-Simmonds has a 10-team NTC, I would think that most of the basement teams from last season are on it. Also, just waive Clifford and keep Simmonds as your extra forward instead.
-Devils don't have the cap space to swap McLeod out for Kerfoot. And I'm not saying that Kerfoot has no value at this point, but e.v.e.r.y. team in the league knows that the Leafs need to shed cap. You're very unlikely to get back much more than a late-round pick or a lottery ticket prospect for him at this point.

They Just Deiced they dont need defense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Edler can barely stay on the ice last time I checked. The left side going into next year is Anderson, Bjornfoot and Edler…. I wouldn’t criticize LAK for bringing in Dermott. Dude has solid analytics and fits their style of play.</div></div>
Edler is signed to the league minimum, actually shows better analytically, takes on more minutes, has more points on an offensively weak team, better possession numbers, hits, takeaways, and has fit the kings system like a glove. Edler was fantastic for us and a big reason the kings could last seven games without Doughty and Walker.

Just because he is aging doesn’t mean he is worse than Dermott. Because Edler is still much better than Dermott.

Toronto I need your help
It would need to be a huge package
High End C Prospect (Byfield)
High End D Prospect (Brandt)|
Kempe for cap reasons
Walker for cap reasons
1st in 2023 (Unprotected)
1st in 2024 (Unprotected)
1 or 2 more prospect (1 Turcotte or 2 of the following: Helge, Spence, Kapari)
Damn LA has a ton of good prospects. They have done a great job! To me their team looks very good. Biggest hole I see is a proven top pair left D. If one of their prospects turn into that OR they trade for one, this team will be dangerous. They should already be very good.
Matthews would clearly be the best player on this team... but at what cost. It seems like what Vegas did when aquiring Pietreangelo and Eichel. Both amazing pieces but it took away from what they already had going for them.
I don't see this as a fit - YET. Once Kopitar is done with his contract and extends to be a lesser role on the team, Matthews makes a ton of sense.
I should also mention that Leafs wouldn't trade Matthews at all (I think we all know this) At least at this point in time. - Just playing with the hypothetical situation.

Matthews really isn't Gretzky, Lindros and Lemieux all combined into one, value wise.
Of course there is a hypothetic offer that the Leafs hypothetically would consider.
