Yeah didn't think so.</div></div>
Is Mitch Marner Roope Hintz ? I never said it’s because you can get Roope Hintz I said it’s because of having a top 10 second compared to Toronto 26th first. Adding the fifth to that and Joey Andersen adds up to at least that value

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Hintz was a PPG last year as well, when Kerfoot put up 23 points in 56 games. I just think that the track record is there for Hintz to be considered at *worst* a low-end top line forward - 41 points in 43 GP last year, followed up by 37 goals this year? That's top line stuff at a middle 6 salary. Kerfoot put up *fine* numbers but you keep acting like it's *just* a 20 point difference between the 2 while not acknowledging the idea that Kerfoot might have been a beneficiary of finally getting a solid place in the lineup with Tavares & Nylander after spending a lot of time with the likes of Spezza, Engvall & Mikheyev the 2 years before this.
Depth pieces like Anderson and Kral really don't bring any value to the table - they're AHL guys who maybe come up for 10-15 games if someone gets hurt. Anderson having a decent year in the AHL as a 23 year old isn't something I'm going to get too excited over - he still only put up 42 points in 56 games down there, for what it's worth.
As far as trying to get another Hintz with that pick in the 2nd,
sure, it could happen, but statistically it's unlikely. Here's a decade worth of guys picked #45, from 2007 through 2016:
-Colby Cohen (3 GP with the 2010-11 Avs, 0 points)
-Zac Dalpe (154 GP over an improbable 11 NHL seasons, the quintessential AHL tweener)
-Jeremy Morin (82 GP over parts of 5 seasons, 10-12-22 overall)
-Ryan Spooner (325 GP over 7 seasons, 167 career points, peaked as a 45ish point player on the Claude Julien Bruins)
-Markus Granlund (335 GP over 7 seasons, 101 career points, was a 25 point, good D center)
-Anthony Stolarz (62 GP over 5 seasons, .915 SV% & 2.73 GAA, had almost half those games this season for a mediocre Ducks team)
-Nick Sorensen (5 GP, 1 assist with the 2016-17 Ducks)
-Brett Pollock (no NHL games, 107 career AHL GP with 35 points, playing in the DEL now)
-Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson (29 GP, 3-6-9 over 2 seasons with Boston)
-Chad Krys (no NHL time, 100 AHL GP with 25 points, let go by original team and now with the Marlies)
There's a couple more recently drafted guys that look interesting (Alex Texier, Scott Perunovich) but they're still too young to make a definitive call on. But that's why I really can't see Dallas putting so much stock in maybe finding another Hintz with that pick - finding a guy like that in the second round is the exception to the rule. Or, as I've said before, I can't picture Jim Nill saying "Sure we've got Roope Hintz - but that 2nd rounder could be anything. It could even be a Roope Hintz!"</div></div>
Agree but I can see Jim Nill saying “sure we’ve got Roope Hintz” but that second rounder could be anything maybe even roope Hintz and we get a top 6 forward and a prospect and a 5th and a depth piece

It’s an awful trade for Dallas. They’re not going to trade a PPG, top-line center over the last 2 years that’s shown no signs of slowing down for a guy who’s AT BEST a .5 PPG, middle-6 winger in Dallas on an expiring deal (Kerfoot), a prospect that AT BEST is a bottom-6 forward (Anderson), another prospect that’s likely going to be a career AHL’er (Kral), a late top-50 pick, and a 5th rounder.
Try to spin it all you want, but there’s actually zero benefit for Dallas both now & in the future. They lose today & they lose tomorrow with this deal & the fact that 3rd party fans are telling you the same thing should be cause for you to reevaluate your stance on the deal.</div></div>

I have re evaluated my sight on the deal but I respectfully disagree with saying there is no benifit for Dallas in the future. Hintz was a second round pick as well

Realistically your looking for a second pairing Ld which really isn’t crazy hard to find. Many teams have younger guys playing that role I really don’t think it’s gonna mess you guys getting that.

I used a tactic many gms use called pick adding
I put our first at a very low value considering we will pick in the high 20s and Ny second round pick will be in the top tens therefore it is easy to compare these 2 picks plus adding the fifth I think equates the first. As for Niemila I think Joey Andersen needs a chance he has never been given a proper chance in the nhl. This season was huge for him and he is still on the younger side I think he still has hope

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>So that Dallas trade: Going to take what you said and read it as this:
DAL receives: Alex Kerfoot, Joey Anderson, Filip Kral, 2022 2nd (45 OA), 2023 5th.
TOR received: Roope Hintz
Kerfoot put up 51 points in 82 GP this season, which is probably what he peaks out as - a 45-50 point winger who can play center in a pinch. He's signed one more year at $3.5M and is UFA next summer.
Joey Anderson will be 24 at the start of the season, about a year and a half younger than Hintz. He's been unable to stick with either the Devils or the Leafs, despite the fact that the Leafs have been desperate for bottom-6 dudes on cheap deals. 26 goals in 56 AHL games isn't nothing, but it's not enough to put a huge value on him.
Filip Kral was okay for the Marlies this season, but again, he grades out as a bottom pair guy in a best case scenario. For what it's worth, Scott Wheeler at the Athletic has him as Toronto's 17th-best prospect.
Hintz will be 26 at the start of the year (younger than Kerfoot) and is being paid $3.15M this year before becoming an RFA. He put up 37 goals and 72 points this year after putting up 43 points in 41 games last season - so two straight years of being close to a point per game player. He's a primary center, making him more valuable than a winger like Kerfoot.
So Dallas gives up the younger roster player, on the better contract, at a premium position, who's much more productive, and you're giving them 2 depth guys and a 2nd/5th combo to make up the difference. It's an easy no from Dallas.</div></div>
I get what your saying but I can’t look at just one season. Before this season Hintz and Kerfoots production was similar, I wanna make it clear I in no way think Kerfoot compares to Hintz at all but I think the difference of 20 points is makes up by the second,2 depth pieces and a 5th. I will once again restate Hintz was a second round pick and sending the islanders pick you never know what could come out of it

Look at the other pieces in the package
Hintz for Kerfoot,2nd round pick,5th round pick,Joey Andersen,flip kral
To dumb it dow a bit it’s a 2C for A top 9 player,2 picks one high one mid, a prospect who has had insane devoloment in one year and a depth defensman

Hintz is a Top25 C in the league. Scores at PPG rate and is elite two ways. Kerfoot barely makes it in Top100, and to be frank he's not even a center.</div></div>
Joey Andersen is 23 years old and just had a 30 goal year with the marlies while Kerfoot just put up 51 points on Toronto. The second round pick is from New York so will be a decent pick along with a 5th round pick and Kral. I get what your saying I do but I also think draft picks hold a lot of value,

I understand the D core looks weak but I see Sandin and Lilijren taking the jump to full-time nhlers next year alongside the mentorship from the older guys. Signing Jack Cambell for 4 million is a hometown discount, I value players like Niemila and their development I believe he will be massive for us in the upcoming years which might mean him getting a look next year. Lastly, through watching Matthew Knies play I intend the leaves will sign him after his season in the NCAA comes to a close, he will immediately jump into a role in the lineup (inference based on development in Ncaa)
Also want to add that the Kerfoot for Hintz trade may not look too hot but I do think Joey Anderson could have some potential playing in the NHL after his season with the Marlies this year. The Nylander trade is purely fair IMO mainly because Tarasanko wants out of st louis.

This is my first team ever made, I made it purely as jokes and wishful thinking but I have to respectfully disagree with u saying Marazak has no value. Let’s not forget Freddie Anderson had a arguably worse season then him back in 2020 then went on to be a top 10 goalie in the league this year. Marazak did not play terrible in the minimal games he did play,I could definitely see him returning to full health and regaining a role next year.
Ottawa isn’t giving up a goalie they just extend and a promising young player for those bums</div></div>
