Can you provide one good reason for Stars fans to like this trade?

This is not far from DAL offering Seguin for Nylander.

I understand the D core looks weak but I see Sandin and Lilijren taking the jump to full-time nhlers next year alongside the mentorship from the older guys. Signing Jack Cambell for 4 million is a hometown discount, I value players like Niemila and their development I believe he will be massive for us in the upcoming years which might mean him getting a look next year. Lastly, through watching Matthew Knies play I intend the leaves will sign him after his season in the NCAA comes to a close, he will immediately jump into a role in the lineup (inference based on development in Ncaa)

Also want to add that the Kerfoot for Hintz trade may not look too hot but I do think Joey Anderson could have some potential playing in the NHL after his season with the Marlies this year. The Nylander trade is purely fair IMO mainly because Tarasanko wants out of st louis.

Do the leafs fans do it on purpose? Or is this stuff just in their nature?

The offer for Hintz is fair. Joey Anderson had a great season with the marlies,Kerfoot has been a consistent 2nd-3rd liner for Toronto,2nd rounder,5th rounder, Filip kral adds depth to the d core

Not sure about the rest of it but blues accept. Apparently Tarasenko doesn’t want out anymore though and has no trade

Take off clifford, 4th and the 3rd and ad a 3rd to the TOR side and the blues accept

It's far from fair. Anderson is a career AHLer, man's turning 24 and he hasn't produced even that much in AHL, he's nothing amazing. Like if he had a season like TJ Tynan and was 19 years old maybe there'd be some interest, but as it stands the offer is absolute garbage.

Hintz is a Top25 C in the league. Scores at PPG rate and is elite two ways. Kerfoot barely makes it in Top100, and to be frank he's not even a center.

Coming from another Blues fan, it doesn’t make sense that Tor would have to add to a one for one swap…

Joey Andersen is 23 years old and just had a 30 goal year with the marlies while Kerfoot just put up 51 points on Toronto. The second round pick is from New York so will be a decent pick along with a 5th round pick and Kral. I get what your saying I do but I also think draft picks hold a lot of value, I mean did Hintz not get drafted in the second round ? You never know what could come out of that pick,I agree it definitely does look unfair on paper but you have to think about both teams needs and the future, worthwhile noting Hintz has 1 year on his contract

It’s hard to tell what’s going on internally in St. Louis but I thrill it’s in the best interest of both sides to part with tarasanko

Look at the other pieces in the package

Hintz for Kerfoot,2nd round pick,5th round pick,Joey Andersen,flip kral

To dumb it dow a bit it’s a 2C for A top 9 player,2 picks one high one mid, a prospect who has had insane devoloment in one year and a depth defensman

So that Dallas trade: Going to take what you said and read it as this:

DAL receives: Alex Kerfoot, Joey Anderson, Filip Kral, 2022 2nd (45 OA), 2023 5th.
TOR received: Roope Hintz

Kerfoot put up 51 points in 82 GP this season, which is probably what he peaks out as - a 45-50 point winger who can play center in a pinch. He's signed one more year at $3.5M and is UFA next summer.
Joey Anderson will be 24 at the start of the season, about a year and a half younger than Hintz. He's been unable to stick with either the Devils or the Leafs, despite the fact that the Leafs have been desperate for bottom-6 dudes on cheap deals. 26 goals in 56 AHL games isn't nothing, but it's not enough to put a huge value on him.
Filip Kral was okay for the Marlies this season, but again, he grades out as a bottom pair guy in a best case scenario. For what it's worth, Scott Wheeler at the Athletic has him as Toronto's 17th-best prospect.

Hintz will be 26 at the start of the year (younger than Kerfoot) and is being paid $3.15M this year before becoming an RFA. He put up 37 goals and 72 points this year after putting up 43 points in 41 games last season - so two straight years of being close to a point per game player. He's a primary center, making him more valuable than a winger like Kerfoot.

So Dallas gives up the younger roster player, on the better contract, at a premium position, who's much more productive, and you're giving them 2 depth guys and a 2nd/5th combo to make up the difference. It's an easy no from Dallas.

Anderson turns 24 before next year begins.

Hintz just put up 70+ points in one of the worst scoring teams. Reminder that TOR is one of the best.

Kerfoot also has one year left on his contract, but unlike him, Hintz is a RFA. We retain his rights after this year too.

Kral is not making the NHL. Not in Toronto, not in Dallas. That 2nd is a moot point because ARI won't trade it for Muzzin

I'm thinking of Stars' future and I'm sure that a clear 1C is better for us than a 2nd line LW, two career AHLers and a random pick.

It's basically the same as DAL offering Gurianov+Karlström+Shea+2nd for Nylander.

I get what your saying but I can’t look at just one season. Before this season Hintz and Kerfoots production was similar, I wanna make it clear I in no way think Kerfoot compares to Hintz at all but I think the difference of 20 points is makes up by the second,2 depth pieces and a 5th. I will once again restate Hintz was a second round pick and sending the islanders pick you never know what could come out of it

You’re not really making sense with two quotes in the same thread. Blues would do one for one if Vladdy agreed to trade.

Nylander is younger, slightly cheaper, put up basically same points VT did last year, signed for 2 years as opposed to 1, doesn’t have extensive injury history, and didn’t have a strained relationship with Blues management to the point that he requested a trade in a public manner last year…

Blues would also probably flip Nylander in package for Tkachuk making it even more enticing as Nylander would have more value in that package to Calgary than Vlad…

More so We need a LD really bad so that so be a prioty first then another winger instead.
And Unless the Leafs want to give up Brodie+ they dont really have anything that would fill our LD needs
