Ben Hutton from VAN

The only thing Hutton has going for him is he plays more minutes. But outside of that Djoos and Siegenthaler yield better results.</div></div>
But it's a whole lot easier to play well in 13-14 minutes than it is to play well in 21+ minutes. And playing 21+ minutes is infinitely more valuable. Also, Siegenthaler and Djoos have played very sheltered minutes and have played in very few games in their career. If you're cool with giving Siegenthaler and Djoos 20+ minutes a night or even 17-19 against top lines, that's cool. It's like comparing a guy like Hagg to Hutton. Djoos lives in the offensive zone compared to Hutton, and plays behind Orlov and Kempny, who are great shutdown guys and take all of the hard minutes. That leaves Djoos with a lot of offensive zone starts and easier competition. Siegenthaler plays behind Niskanen and Carlson who though they play fewer hard minutes than Kempny and Orlov, they both eat a ton of minutes, leaving Siegenthaler with a tiny amount of ice time. By statistical comparison Kulak is better than Weber and Petry. Who would you rather have? By the comparison you showed me Matt Irwin has been "outplaying" Josi, Subban, and Ellis and almost equalled Ekholm. Yannick Weber has outplayed Ellis. Would you rather have Irwin or Subban/Josi/Ellis? Guys who are elite at playing 12-14 minutes a game are - pardon me - worthless. That they are young gives them more value, but Hutton is barely older than Djoos. Siegenthaler has talent but he's not quite going to fit in BMac's 2 year window.

VAN CAR Swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>I don’t see VAN and CAR as very good trade partners IMO. Carolina looking for proven scoring top 6 wingers, but I don’t see a lot of tradable assets that the Canucks would be willing to part with. The only fit is selling Ferland as a pure rental for pick/prospect.
Virtanen, Goldobin are unproven (long term) scoring players
Granlund isn’t a great fit in Carolina (terrible FO, not a great playmaker, good defensive player who we have enough of)
I could see Baertschi as a fit, but are the Canucks going to move him? Doubt it.</div></div>
I'll move Baertschi instead of Virtanen....
2nd round pick+Baertschi+Goldobin for Hamilton and 4th?

VAN's 1st is off the table this season ... Draft is being held there ... if Virtanen was added instead of Goldobin or Granlund I think the Canes would jump at it</div></div>
Admittedly I do not know much about Stecher, so thank you for that. I figured their 1st is off the table. Virtanen is a STUD.

Getting rid of the obvious
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>The first two trades, sure. Gotta get out of that Johnson contract and Brassard has been bad this year so fine.
But that last trade makes no sense............. Lets just go see what players were involved when trading 1st the past little while: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/trades?round=1">https://www.capfriendly.com/trades?round=1</a>
In what way is a 1st rounder needed here? Trying to get rid of Sheahan? So be it, trade him with retention for a low pick. Trying to acquire Granlund? Sure, trade a 3rd rounder for him. None of the players involved here are quality players so where's the need to add the 1st?
This would be Reaves and a 2nd for Sundqvist and a 1st all over again. Using 1st rounder's in trades where they aren't needed.</div></div>
Depends how desperate we are to get rid of them

Tarasenko
Would be a good trade for the Nucks as they dont have to give up a first and I bet Vlad would thrive for some reason. I like getting Dahlen as he has potential to be a top 6 forward. Is Olli going to be a bust or a good D player? Too much risk for the Blues and they <strong>have to get a 1st back for Tara</strong>. How about a 2019 1st rd pick, a 2020 3rd rd pick, Jake Virtanen and Olli J or Dahlen for Vlad and Schmaltz?
On another side note, Jim Benning is a terrible GM, though not as bad as Cherilli. I think he would make a trade that would hurt the Nucks unfortunately.( i.e overpaying for Vlad)

Bridge Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Even a Bridge won't be that cheap.
What about doing the reverse??? People keep trying to short change him money. Why not give him a 1 year $12M contract and then next year when we're all in the same boat again...he's still an RFA and should accept a lower AAV It's like a 9 year deal vs 8 year deal</div></div>
I think you could get a bridge in that ball park. Maybe it's 5.25M and maybe it's only two years.
They think with giving a 12 million dollar contract is it gives the player a ton of power. Leafs have to qualify him at $12M and Nylander can just accept that. You'd have to really trust the player

Win the Hughes lottery, trade to VAN
No way haha. Vancouver's first will likely be top 5 maybe even top 3. So to just get Hughes, you're trading 4 of probably you're 5 best prospects? No way that happens. Maybe Dahlen, 2nd, 2019 1st for 1st overall

Win the Hughes lottery, trade to VAN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HeinousFulcrum</b></div><div>Where are the 4 prospects you're talking about? There are only 3 of them in this trade. Petterson is one of their best prospects, but they still have Boeser, Horvat and Hughes. I don't consider Dahlen to be in the top 5, and Juolevi hasn't really proven anything yet. Are you taking into account Vancouver's 1st pick in 2019?
I agree this trade doesn't happen and that Vancouver would be giving up too much. However, your counter-proposal is way too low for a franchise center. Here would be my counter-proposal:
Det receives Elias Petterson, Michael DiPietro, and 2019 1st round pick.
Vancouver receives Jack Hughes (1st overall pick), and 2019 2nd round pick.</div></div>
Franchise centre yes but youre trading a franchise centre and a top 3 pick for a franchise centre. I mean would u trade 2 top 5 picks for a 1st overall?

I think you could get a lot more than that for PK... Probably something like a 1st instead of a 2nd along with a good prospect like Mcleod or Boqvist, maybe even both.

Who should be captain?
Tavares is a proven leader and is currently older and better than Matthews. Give Tavares the C. Rielly and Marleau get A's until marleau leaves and then Matthews gets the A. finally in 7 years when Taveres likely leaves the organization then you give Matthews the C. natural order of progression.
Marleau wont be with the team in all likelihood after his contract is up so theres no point in giving him the C
