<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>This team has a pretty clear direction, which is to add speed and skill to the lineup. They also need to increase their scoring rate.

Dickenson was brought in to be a shutdown 3C, and has been really bad at it. He provides 0 offense and doesn’t fit the mold of what JR/PA want for the team. His contract has negative value and since it has 2 years left, it will eat up needed cap space for miller, horvat, and Hoglander extensions.

Trading him for Dadonov, who is not super fast but is quicker than Dickinson, adds some skill to the bottom 6 of the lineup. It makes the team better short term and gets the cap space in the medium term.

Garland is great, but under utilized in Vancouver. He provides no special teams value and is not getting 1st line minutes. I like him a lot but if he is going to be used like a middle 6 winger, it is worth while to extract some value from him to upgrade the Defense, which is a major weakness. Going from Poolman to Pettersson is a huge upgrade for Van. Pettersson is underutilized in Pit, much like Garland in Van. It’s a swap that makes sense for both teams. Pit add Kapanen since the value is clearly in their favour.

Kapanen can slide right into garlands role, adds an element of speed to the Canucks 5v5 and PK which they lost when they traded motte, and still can be a 40 point player. That’s huge for the Canucks.

Overall, the Canucks get out of bad money, add 2 mid 20’s players who fit in with the core and compliment a puck moving skilled team, and get better depth. The only piece of value the Canucks give up is Garland, who, as mentioned before, is not being utilized to the fullest anyways</div></div>

Fair enough. Still dont fully agree, but I appreciate the thought process
