Is Brad Ts Phone Not Working P2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klassic</b></div><div>Hawks needed help at forward and that was early in the season. LD is the Hawks deepest position with prospects/young nhl players. Brodie just clogs that up. They have plenty of D and don't need another in Brodie. Also Brodie is 33, Beauvillier is 26.</div></div>
Brodie plays on the right side and can handle big minutes to ease the burden on the young prospects. The age is irrelevant - both are UFAs at the end of this season.
This is a fantasy platform so this doesn't matter, but your original point that the Hawks wouldn't pay for a UFA is wrong. They have already this season and they likely will again, especially if they have more injuries. Especially if they think they can sign a veteran player to a couple years to help the rebuild (like Foligno, Mrazek, etc.)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klassic</b></div><div>That is not how this works. You want to dump UFA salary to a non-playoff team. Then you pay. Hawks won't pay even a 7th for 2 months of Brodie.</div></div>
Chicago traded a 5th round pick for Anthony Beauvillier in November -- Beauvillier is a UFA at the end of this season (making approx. the same as Brodie) so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Toronto blockbuster
This should be called "Toronto Anchor" because all it would do would sink the Leafs
No way they're retaining on JT and sending a 1st round pick back , especially not for Karlsson and Guentzal

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Might as well add Brodie to that Calgary trade with the rest of the Leafs roster. Hawks sure don't want him.</div></div>
It gives Leafs cap flexibility and gives Chicago an everyday veteran d-man to help finish off the year and mentor their young players.
There aren't too many teams that could take hit cap hit straight up even if he is a solid 3-4 d man so I went with Chicago given their injury problems

A Cliff Fletcher special! 😁
Where's Gary Leeman and Alexander Godynyuk?</div></div>
Nylander seems like he's headed for Gary Leeman territory

Could be a 3rd or 4th - it gives Leafs cap flexibility and gives Chicago an everyday veteran d-man to help finish off the year and mentor their young players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xercuses</b></div><div>He’s not available but let’s say he was and fix your offer
First drop the retention, it’s not happening
Second, I get Brodie has to come back to make the cap work so add him and idk like a 2nd ig to pay for the dump but it doesn’t look like Toronto has a 2nd so just make it 2 3rds
Third, well the blues need a replacement RHD that can play over 25 minutes a night and play extremely hard pairings. The leafs don’t have that so for the sake of the argument. The blues would accept Liligren in that role
Now lastly you need to actually pay for Parakyo. I assume it starts at a guy like Knies. Then a couple good picks. So your first this year and next. Maybe 2 firsts is a little high but Toronto has no seconds so they are gonna have to make do.
So it’s
Parayko for Brodie, Knies, Lilligren, 2024 first, 2026 first, 2024 3rd, 2025 3rd
That’s a much fairer offer that would probably be competitive if he was available</div></div>
Appreciate the response - definitely not something that makes sense for the Leafs. Too much going the other way for what's coming back (as great as Parayko is), in my opinion.

A top prospect, 1st Rd Pick and NHL level d-man (signed thru next year) would be a discounted price? What would be fair for a rental (Monahan) and an oft-injured second pairing d man?

Fair - I tossed him on waivers instead

You don't think the Blues wouldn't listen on a trade for Parayko when he's 30 and locked up for another 6 years?
If getting a 3-4 d-man in Brodie for rest of season, plus a solid bottom 6 player (Robertson) and 2 picks (including a 1st round pick) isn't enough - what would need to come back?
I'm genuinely curious
