TJ may be worth a 2nd to someone. But not the rebuilding Hawks. Why would they trade a 2nd round pick for a 33yo pending UFA?

I love the 3rd trade. 🙂

A Cliff Fletcher special! 😁

Where's Gary Leeman and Alexander Godynyuk?

Ducks will just keep McGinn. He's a worse player that costs more AAV but it's one more season and he's gone. No reason to tie the team to a bottom-6 forward for another three seasons in Kampf (who is very soon to be on the wrong side of 30 yr-old).

McGinn also has a buyout cost that wouldn't be unreasonable. If the Ducks really want him gone they should go that route.

Could be a 3rd or 4th - it gives Leafs cap flexibility and gives Chicago an everyday veteran d-man to help finish off the year and mentor their young players.

There aren't too many teams that could take hit cap hit straight up even if he is a solid 3-4 d man so I went with Chicago given their injury problems

Might as well add Brodie to that Calgary trade with the rest of the Leafs roster. Hawks sure don't want him.

Nylander seems like he's headed for Gary Leeman territory

Rebuilding teams don't trade away high picks for pending UFA's. Hawks keep their pick.

Habs pass, we have Reinbacher, Mailloux and Barron with Konyushkov coming as well, we don't need a soft D man who can't clear the front of the net or block shots

His phone is working but no one is calling because outside of the NTC/NMC players, no one is interested in the rest 😉

The whole point if considering to trade Savard is because we have too much Rd. Taking back a Rd wouldn’t be in the plans

That is not how this works. You want to dump UFA salary to a non-playoff team. Then you pay. Hawks won't pay even a 7th for 2 months of Brodie.

Chicago traded a 5th round pick for Anthony Beauvillier in November -- Beauvillier is a UFA at the end of this season (making approx. the same as Brodie) so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Hawks needed help at forward and that was early in the season. LD is the Hawks deepest position with prospects/young nhl players. Brodie just clogs that up. They have plenty of D and don't need another in Brodie. Also Brodie is 33, Beauvillier is 26.

Brodie plays on the right side and can handle big minutes to ease the burden on the young prospects. The age is irrelevant - both are UFAs at the end of this season.

This is a fantasy platform so this doesn't matter, but your original point that the Hawks wouldn't pay for a UFA is wrong. They have already this season and they likely will again, especially if they have more injuries. Especially if they think they can sign a veteran player to a couple years to help the rebuild (like Foligno, Mrazek, etc.)
