The Ducks have too many middle-six and 3rd line forwards and a logjam at LHD. What the team doesn't have is an excess of players projected to play on the top line.
Any one of Caulfield, Suzuki, Dach or Slafkovsky moves the needle, otherwise #2 overall is the best shot the Ducks have at getting a top-line player.

Hypotheticals
When you toss in a ton of picks it looks like a lot, but it's a lot of quantity and not quality. For 2nd overall, that would net:
2023 9th, 17th, 43rd
and
a 2024 1st rounder that can't be in the top-10 (condition).
In 2023, once you get past the top-5, the quality of the players in the draft drops dramatically.
With those picks, you're likely going to get multiple middle-six forwards or 2nd-3rd pairing defenders. That's great, but just not something a rebuilding team with a chance at an elite player really needs.

This Would Not Be Boring
Kaprizov is a great player, but the biggest issue is that his contract only runs for 3 seasons then he's a UFA.
If 2nd OA is in play (which is very unlikely), Verbeek is going to be looking at players who have 5+ seasons left in their deals.

2oa Trade
The Ducks have a lot of potential middle-six forwards in the pipeline. Lots of these ACGM trades for 2nd OA don't include players with definitive 1st line potential, which is where I think any trade talks begin.
TBH, the one piece on the Wings I like is Edvinsson, I think he'd be an amazing partner for Drysdale. But the Ducks have a logjam at LHD.

23-24 Leafs Matthews to the Ducks
Toronto just needs to figure it out and give Auston whatever he wants to re-sign.
Because the Leafs will be hard pressed to find a team willing to sell the farm to acquire a player that's going to demand that type of contract. And I'm sure most GMs would be willing to wait on him hitting free agency.
It's just going to be like John Tavares again.

hart deals
There's a high discrepancy in value to drop from #2 OA and Gibson to get #7, #22 and Hart (who will likely need a contract in the $6-7 million range), especially in this draft.
I don't even think a prospect like Gauthier, York or Brink moves the needle much to warrant moving down from #2 to #7 in 2023. A 2023 early 2nd, or 2024 1st round pick is more in-line with valuation.

After last season's performance, I feel Kuznetsov is overpaid by a significant amount. I think it may take a late 1st + Kuznetsov or 50% retention to trade him.

Granlund is overpaid by about $2-3 million. Pittsburgh should be expecting to ship off extra assets for a team to take on that contract.

His reliability is definitely relevant. If Seravalli isn't consistently right, then he may be making stuff up. If someone names 50 trade targets and only 1 of them hits, is that a good success rate?

Why exactly would Murray cost a 1st to dump

Quoting: GMBL

Mrazek also had a 10-team list, so it's quite possible that they find someone willing to give a decent deal

That trade was Mrazek and the 2022 #25 OA for the 2022 #38 OA. You also have to consider that Murray would also take up ~$900k in cap space more than Mrazek.
That's why Murray + a late 1st for a late 2nd or early 3rd makes sense for a trade.

Some fans of both teams will say this is horrible but
I don't think any GM would make this trade just because it's impossible to guarantee a team will be a lottery team.
When you draw it up it looks like this:
2023 #2
for
2023 #5 OA

2023 #31 or #32 OA

2025 #?
It would take a lot more than that solely because there are less sure things when you leave it up to the future.

Trading Murray is going to cost a significant asset because you need to find a team that has cap space they're willing to burn that isn't on Murray's no-trade list.
That reduces the market to significantly fewer teams.

After seeing so many of these Matthews trades it's become apparent the TML have to pay him.
Does it come out to $13x8? I don't know.
But between navigating his upcoming NMC, the cap and teams that are willing to part with appropriate assets, I don't see any trade partners.

Revisiting past ideas
From what I saw last season, I think LaCombe, Helleson and Nesterenko need one more season in the AHL to develop properly (along with all the newcomers like Zellweger and Mintyukov).
I do think Verbeek has plenty of options in the FA defensemen market and has the opportunity to add a couple above their appropriate salary in the 2-4 year range. For those, I'm looking at Dumba, Gavrikov, Severson, Graves, Gustafsson, Mayfield and Soucy.

I had to run my own Armchair GM to doublecheck the math, because it just feels broken. Even looking at the Long-Term Outlook, and it feels like there's a cap trap someplace that I'm not aware of.

What I would do to the Ducks as a non-Ducks fan
Thanks for putting some thought and work into this (also thanks for letting us know that there's a guy named Matthew Mania in the draft).
I think Fowler is an incredibly valuable player for the Ducks, some from his play on the ice, but mostly from his low-key consistency and leadership. There are a bunch of young defensemen coming up, and someone is going to have to help them out (just like how Niedermayer helped Fowler when he came into the league).

Each team can only retain cap on three players each season. In this situation, it isn't about the $ amount being retained, but using one of those retention spots.
There are only a few teams that can retain 25% of Toews cap, so obviously the cost to do so will be higher than a 5th rounder.

When you consider a team can only have 3 cap retention trades per season, I would think it would cost more than a 5th round pick.
