That'd probably do it at the draft if one of Verbeeks guys is available when MTL is on the clock.

Almost, wouldn't take Dach at this point unless he's just a sweetener, far too injury prone.

You’re rumoring. A reporter with a history of inaccurate reporting (such as Gibson having played his last game in ANA) saying that Verbeek has listened to offers is wildly different from our GM looking to trade him. You’ll be hard pressed to find a single ANA fan who wants him gone. The coaching staff consistently lauds him as well as the locker room.
It takes a blue chip piece to get a blue chip piece. If it isn’t valuable enough to consider for Caufield, it isn’t enough for Z either

hmmm
Like you said a 50 point center who is good defensively and he won't get more points playing in our top 6 also close to home? You are all so bad at understanding anything even close to related to hockey it is funny. Plus a young power forward in Jones which everyone is not even factoring in could easily get 30 to 40 points on a powerhouse scoring team like TML , and then to have a young big right hand prospect and yet you say it would hurt the Leafs instead of losing an overpaid Nylander? The fans of TML are a joke. Go pay to watch a losing team some more , buy those jerseys and hats because that is all TML will ever be good for at this pace.

Check his next post further down the page, rather proves our point that the guy is overworked to hell and back. He'd bounce back in a big way behind a solid defense, or at least a team he believes can get one back if he needs it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeefBouillon</b></div><div>I had to double check and wow, they really structured Brodie's contract to make him less tradeable (Modified NTC but a high salary).
But two things I hope Verbeek is paying attention to:
Fowler showed last season that he's a goddamn versatile horse and he put up the most points of his career being paired with like 10 different people. All he needs is someone half reliable to do really well (Brodie is great, Myers is good).
After last season, Drysdale needs to get his development back on track and the 2nd pairing would be the best place for that. But I have a feeling Verbeek might bring in a rental instead of a UFA for his partner (Dillon, Forbort, etc.). Graves would be good, but damn if the team has too many middle LHD and LW on the roster and in the pipeline.</div></div>
Absolutely! Both C4 and Jamie need solid stay at home guys to pair up with to let them play!
Brodie is a great Cam option with his defensive prowess and I think someone like Ryan Graves or Nic Hague would be awesome for Jamie

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeefBouillon</b></div><div>Each team can only retain cap on three players each season. In this situation, it isn't about the $ amount being retained, but using one of those retention spots.
There are only a few teams that can retain 25% of Toews cap, so obviously the cost to do so will be higher than a 5th rounder.</div></div>
This is correct, in terms of actual cash the retention would be very little, but retention slots and cap space are both at a premium and come at a cost. 3rd rounder or equivalent prospect is probably right for a 2.6m retention slot.
The good news is the slot frees up again this offseason, so it's very short-term thing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Natebarrette</b></div><div>It’s not actually 2.6 mil they have to pay. Ends up being like 186k because of the money that’s already paid on the contract.</div></div>
Actual money in this instance doesn't matter -- few teams will have the ability to retain as third parties in facilitating a trade between two other teams. Right now, only 8 teams have the cap space to absorb a $2.625 million cap hit without making other moves.
We'll take your 2024 third, thanks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoreHitzSeider</b></div><div>What's up with the fantasy land Terry trades? 🤔</div></div>
Article came out during the holidays on one of the Leafs websites saying Terry should be a trade target and he should cost less than the other big names because he doesn't need retention to fit and doesn't have the start power of the other over the hill rentals like Kane.
I'm guessing all the Leaf's casuals are just now reading it because they are back at their desks from the holidays.
While I disagree with Landro and think that little Robo could turn into something special, he is as high a risk prospect as he is a high reward. He is undersized with injury history and the Leafs are doing his development no favors this season with how much he has sat in the pressbox. Anaheim is a place he could potentially become the player he has the potential to be. He could also suffer a couple of injuries that end his career a year from now, so I woulnd't give up much for him.
IF we were trading Terry, We're taking the top forward and defensive prospects as well as the 2023 1st at a minimum from the team who gets him. For Toronto, that is Knies, Niemela, the 23 1st, plus something.

Blockbuster Video
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeefBouillon</b></div><div>Cool, care to inform me? Because here's what I see.
Holtz has 2 points and has been a healthy scratch most of this season and with only 14/34 possible games played.
The last Devils game I watched, Sharangovich was the 4th line LW behind Wood, Haula and Tatar.
Casey is 5'9" and 160 lbs and I look forward to seeing what he can do during the World Juniors. He could be a generational talent, he could be another Vatanen or he could be a negligible undersized dman. He's 18 and we don't know yet.
So at this point they're depth pieces and middle of the lineup players.</div></div>
They’re playing Holtz in a bottom six role currently, with minimal minutes, to work on the defensive part of his game. The points aren’t coming in those minutes, since Holtz just isn’t a play driver and isn’t playing with one, but he’s been noticeably improving in the areas he had the most flaws in when drafted. There are more chances for him to play in a top 6 role with another incredible play driver (Zegras) while in Anaheim, since NJ can afford to play him like this with our depth
Yeezy is playing on what’s technically the 4th line I guess, but he offten shifts in with the Jack Hughes line, and it mostly just speaks to our depth. He’s currently on pace for 24 goals in what would be 2 minutes less than his average TOI per gaame. He would be tied for most goals on the Ducks roster after this trade, and number six in scoring, while having the 3rd highest points per 60 minutes on the team
TinTin mentioned Casey above, putting him ahead of the likes of Luke Hughes and the also undersized Lane Hutson. The data speaks for himself that he’s a quality prospect, and a prospect that plays as many quality games as Vantanen did is very valuable.
Negligible undersized dman is looking More unlikely though, but that’s the chance you take on futures when rebuilding.
