Quoting: pens1991
Petry had 36 giveaways this season, and 23 takeaways, both numbers better than his prior year in MTL. Petry wasn't that bad in Pittsburgh this year, I still didn't care for that trade from Hextall, but nothing can be done now. They're not going to buyout Petry, no one has suggested that. So sure, i'd be willing to talk about trading Harris.
Would completely disagree that PIT's system isn't about depth.... look at their back to back cup runs, both teams were extremely deep. Hextall went away from that. I would anticipate Dubas and Co look to go back to that.
Regardless, i'm not sending the 14oa for a 2nd/3rd pair Dman and a scattering of bottom 6/AHL players lol
You want the 14OA then i'll take FLAs 2023 1st, 2023 2nd and a 4th
"its about front loading your talent and having decent veteran (usually)support for them to help chew up minutes"
Yeah i addressed those runs. Spreading 1/6 top 6 in Kessel to carry Hagelin and Bonino doesnt make it less true
I mean the importance of Cullen alone taking bulk defensive faceoffs playing a key shutdown role so 3rd line could Shoot is rarely talked about.
Its not a bad thing it just means you rely too heavily on certain people and when 1/3 or 1/4 players in your core goes down your Cup hopes that year die with it.
Where as teams like MTL or BOS lose key players and it was next man up on their SCF roles.
Both lose top line players replacing them with bottom 6 guys who stepped up (some more then others as BOS won we didnt)
Some teams like MTL traditionally build 4 line teams since the 1970's dynasty years where we used it to combat highly offensive teams like LAK&Dionne, BOS&Espisito, NYI&Bossy, PHI&Clark, ext
Some teams like PIT win many cups by front end loading and hoping the sheer quality of their core makes those around them better for a 20-24 game timeline in the playoffs.
Cant argue with their results under Lemieux or Crosby . Different systems are built historically in a variety of ways and atleast PIT consistent
As for your trade , i cant argue it
It makes sense based on Capfriendly's history of trading the top 10 picks since 2000 tweet on twitter.(given the depth this years top 15 is better then most years top 10 so i think it losly applies)
