It's kind of unrealistic to think Vegas would pass up a top 6 player in either hornqvist or rust without something big coming back their way.

Getting a decent prospect and at most a later pick is probably a good return for fleury considering he'll be moved on to a good spot and in the west.

I'd be a little wary of giving ufa's not named bonino contracts longer than 1 year though considering next year we need to resign rust Wilson kuhnhackl and Rowney.</div></div>

You're right about UFA's. But the only one of those 4 which I think it'll receive a big salary raise is Rust. If he keeps his actual hockey level, I think he'll probably receive a salary between 3.5 and 4.5M for about 4 or 5 years. Wilson and Rowney will receive about 1.5M for maybe 2 or 3 seasons. And Kuhn will receive less than 1M. Unless all of these guys have a real boost in their hockey level next season.

That's why I think my UFA's signs makes sense. 2 years for Williams and Del Zotto are a good contract lenght me. Maybe Del Zotto could receive just 1. But Williams is a player who add qualities in many ways to the team. Even with his age. He's a very good replacement to Hornqvist, in my opinion, with many similarities with him.</div></div>

Yeah I would say one year to del zotto would probably be a good precaution, unless del zotto is paid less.

I could see taking a little more risk to grab Williams considering what all he could bring with missing hornqvist and if Cullen's retiring.

If hags is available in the draft who do you think Vegas would choose over him?!

and Flower contract is gone whether by trade, waive and claim, or buyout</i></div></div>

There seem to be some illusion that Vegas is going to draft the "best" player off the NHL roster regardless of cap cost. I think Vegas would be better to take a $700,000 AHLer from the Pens rather than Hagelin. Let's say they do that for a couple of teams. 3.3m saving for 4 teams gives Vegas 13m to spend on. UFAs. No Vegas is not cap dump heaven for NHL teams.
Fleury: OK he could be gone via trade, but money maybe even bad money coming back to the Pens, a buyout cost Pens money. And no way is this version worth a waive (that would violate his NMC most likely).</i></div></div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTF</b></div><div><i>

Trades might not being showing up but this is a follow-up to fleury being traded to Calgary.

You have a good point with Vegas taking AHLers but with the exemption for players with under 2 pro years that leaves rust, Wilson, kuhnhackl, and sundqvist as guys who have shown that they have Nhl potential.

Wilson and kuhnhackl have been 4th liners and sundqvist has yet to really play at the Nhl level.

I would protect rust (4d, 4o protection) but that does leave hornqvist open. I saw hornqvist and hagelin as the best options, but just used hagelin since he makes .25 less to see if the cap space works out.

You've got a good point but the pens have traded away most of their exposable ahlers with high potential.
