yes the biggest thing the canucks need is cap space. if chicago wants to move up it is a unique situation with the flat cap where both teams can help each other. chicago needs 20+ mil to even hit the floor so unless your gonna throw money at free agents that will hurt you down the line this deal makes sense for both sides im sorry you dont see that. take all the players out and it would cost chicago way more in picks to move up in this stacked draft

Myers is easier moved and will cost less, if anything by waiting 5 days after the draft when his bonus is paid out and some of the UFA D are gone.
To move back from a premium player at 11oa to pick a good player at 19oa will cost Chicago more than Ottawa 2nd. That in of itself is the usual trade value, of an average draft, to move from 19 to 11</div></div>
myers bonus is payed sept 15 for some reason or else id agree with you. if allvin think they can get a guy they have ranked 10-12 at 19 and they can get back into the second round i can see him looking at trading down but i agree id rather take our pick of the bunch at 11 than risk it.
and i agree not sure when boeser became a negative asset

yeah if it were myers on his own... your also getting a young 50+ point winger and moving up in a stacked draft. flip myers for ANYTHING at the deadline next year as long as your owner isnt penny pinching.. shouldnt be with all the season tickets bought

If the hawks were to eat $12.6M for Vancouver, we aren’t giving up a 2nd as well just to upgrade our first by 8 spots. That’ll cost Vancouver more</div></div>
its not like its oel going back... boeser in not a negative asset and will play top line top pp chicago next year and is still young. myers will be able to be flipped easily at the deadline for an asset. would be the most discounted trade up in history if your owner isnt stingy about aying myers bonus. need 20+ mil to even hit the floor

chicago not exactly strapped for cash and this would be the biggest discount to move up to 11 in a stacked draft in history. you get a young top 6 winger who had 55 pts in a 'down year' and myers who can be flipped at the deadline for some sort of asset. as long as your owner isnt stingy this is your best chance to move up, where you add assets AND move up, while weaponizing your cap. and your gripe is 44OA????

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>Detroit is not adding 12.665 (and another 6.665 next year) in payroll on those 2 players for that much draft capital any more than the Hawks will. Myers at full cost (which if it is '23 picks means the acquiring team is paying his Summer bonus) included means the rumored deal of a flipping the 1st round picks with a 2nd becomes more like a 3rd if not 4th. If Detroit, wants to win that bidding war....congrats and good luck. Plenty of place to spend cap space.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dan10900</b></div><div>Points are relatively useless without a significant amount of context, especially when evaluating a player that is a complete liability defensively, likely getting far more minutes than he would on a different team, and is relying on rather high oiS% and PP time that he might not get (at 5v5 he scored at a worse rate than Kotkaniemi lol) that will not last in CAR (not to mention he's well past the average prime of a forward, and the contract goes until he's THIRTY SEVEN)</div></div>
everyone sucked on the canucks before tocchet 5v5, the team was awful not just him. great on the PK and him and Petey torched team for SHP. he gets much more than 8 on the open market and got less than Horvat who was worse on the same team. he turns 37 after the deadline of his final year so it will be his 36 year old season, with a cap likely 10-15 mil higher than it is right now. when t cap rises in just a few years a player of miller caliber will be above 10mil based on cap%. sure he wont be a ppg player then but he has the skillset to be effective as he ages as his game is already not reliant on his footspeed (which is what you lose with age, not hockey IQ)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Onlyfairtrades1</b></div><div>Because posters here think it's realistic means it's actually realistic? LOL. Come on, 95% of what is posted here is pure nonsense and fantasy. In the last 38 years I believe there have been 38 offer sheets and only 3 have been successful I think, so how how if Laffy getting an offer sheet realistic? Jeff Gorton said when he was the Ranger GM going through a rebuild with a ton of cap room that he doesn't believe in offer sheets and never issued one, so how is the Habs (run by Gorton) giving Laffy an offer sheet realistic? It is possible, but in not very probable at all, so it's not very realistic. But, because Ranger fans say no thanks to the non stop ridicules Laffy trades posted by Hab fans (and others), the offer sheet threats then come out. How is that not a childish reaction to a no thanks to your bad trade offer? It's what a spoiled 8 year old boy would say. So that is why it is a childish post by sad and unhappy fans that don't get exactly what they want.</div></div>
i am vancouver no montreal. you litterally said yourself 95% of the stuff on here is nonsense and the title of the team is literally asking the question if NYR can match...
and how are offersheets not realistic when they have been happening almost every year/second year (regardless if they work) also a flat cap world absolutly increases the odds of a team weaponizing cap space

No one except elite talents succeed as a dman in Vancouver. Jordi Benn? Tyler Myers? OEL? Joelevi? Hamonic? Smidth? Poolman? Dermot? Stillman? and since 2020 how many good dman have played for you?</div></div>
dont know why yoou turned it onto the canucks believe me i know this team hasnt had good defence in years...
however under tocchet that defensive system is now actually being put in place and made fringe NHLers, like wolanin, breisbois, juulsen look like they belong on an NHL ice, a good coach will do that.
playing very sheltered minutes on one of, if not the best defensive team in the league doesnt equate to being a top 4 dman. put him in any other teams top 4 he falls flat

People know Pettersson in a NHL caliber Dman, but they think he is a top 6/ fringe top 4 guy.
Sure Pettersson is better and has been more valuabule to his team that Chatfield but I still think Chatfield is more underrated.</div></div>
chatfield and top 4 should never be in the same sentence. Rod made TDA look passable at defence. i truly think and Dman would look 'top 4' on that team with that system
