Why do I keep seeing Lyubushkin trades and then pairing him with Rielly. Since when did he become a RD1?

Remember the cap is going up to over 87m. I don't like Reaves in the lineup, the idea of Bush as RD1 but I wouldn't mind Domi back for that cap hit.

Value-wise maybe.. but Laine has done nothing in recent memory to justify what he makes and the cap hit on whatever team he's on. If I were the sharks I'd save the assets and spend the cap on players who are committed to putting in 100% effort all the time.

But if Lagesson has more value, doesn't that mean he's better? So how would that trade be an upgrade for the Leafs? I don't see how that's a dream scenario at all.

Yeah gotta think if they entertain trading him that they would get much better offer than this. Personally I hope he signs tho.

Leafs Have To Survive One Year Only
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Sorry if I was rude, but thercis just mco reasonable way Nylander gets into Matthews territory. It’s frustrating to see Leafs fans buy into the hype (often from rival fans who love nothing more than to stir up sh$t for Leafs fans, #rentfree) - Nylander is great player (we are lucky to have him) but 17 games is not enough to move a player from great to superstar</div></div>
That's a you problem if you're frustrated with Leafs fans. I am not arguing that he should get paid after 17 games, I'm saying if he stays at this pace.

Leafs Have To Survive One Year Only
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Matthews has won the Hart & Rocket, scored 60 goals and had pretty much led the league in actual and expected goals per min since he became a pro. He’s a big, skilled #1 centre and arguably 2nd best player in the world. Willy has scored 40 one time and never finished top 20 in points. Willy is a great player - I love him - but to publicly state he might ask and deserve Matthews money is reprehensible and deserves criticism. Sorry bud.</div></div>
So Willy is on pace for 57 goals and 72 assists for 129 pts. Will he get that? doubt it. I said if he continues on that pace, he would be asking for closer to what matthews is making, which is 11.6m. Saying he would ask for closer to 11.6 vs 10.5 if he puts up those numbers this year is not illogical at all. You can disagree but no need to be rude.

If I'm AZ, I'm staying the course right now. You guys have a seriously amazing prospect pool, but I'd still hold on to picks for another year or two. I'd wait to start trading futures away until you're realistically a playoff team and need those pieces to tie the team together.</div></div>
Completely agree, there's a reason Laine is being healthy scratched.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>matty_top_2_not_2</b></div><div>no, we can't, because this is not the way you win playoff hockey games. the 6-5 and 5-4 OT wins are fun to watch in the regular season, but the play switches in the playoffs. any team we play, no matter how poor they are defensively, will NOT be giving up 5-6 goals a game.
idk about you, but for me personally, i'd rather watch the leafs win games in the playoffs rather than the regular season.</div></div>
Can't have a chance to win in the playoffs without winning in the regular season. But that's a fair point, I would rather they win in the playoffs as well. The playoffs, imo, has an underlying issue that the game changes significantly in the way it's officiated. It's such a weird concept to me how no other pro sports league has this same issue. So the type of play that gets you to the playoffs isn't necessarily the best way to win once there. Whether the D corps is good on advanced metrics or not the issue remains that none of our core talent players are willing to play the type of hockey that wins in the playoffs. So change the D all you want, it's not going to magically make Nylander and Marner hard to play against in the corners.

have you not seen the production from our top 2 lines? they're playing at a rate that is unsustainable. both 34 and 88 are on pace for almost 82 goals this season lol
the only reason our record is 10-5-2 is because our offense has been powerful and clutch at the right times. like i said, unsustainable. need to start winning 2-1 and 3-0 hockey games, not 6-5.</div></div>
Only Leafs fan will complain about the WAY the team is winning. Cripes, can't we just be happy they're winning games for once?

I like the idea of that third line, hard to say if Minten and Cowan would be ready. I like the idea of Stamkos signing here but at 8m I'd rather the leafs spread that cap around. If he chose to sign a spezza type deal then I'd be all for it!
