Montreal retains half of Petry's salary and gives us a 3rd, Toronto doesn't give you guys a 2nd, we MIGHT *not* have a deal. Petry's good, solid D that could help us out big time, but I'd much rather have a young Kapi.

By the way we are not trading Morgan Frost</div></div>
Well then you don't get the point of a rebuild. PHI would have to give up one of their best prospects *aka Frost* in order to get Tarasenko, you just have to! Then you guys would actually have a decent chance to win games have Giroux and Tarasenko together. Otherwise, you guys are not getting Tarasenko for a mediocre prospect and a 2nd rounder. But regardless, you guys would need an actually good goalie to see success.

Ummm are you okay? St Louis wants to rebuild from many reports. They could get some pretty good prospects and picks out Tarasenko. I get what your saying, I feel like St Louis should give a lot more in order to get Giroux. But, again, I can't see STL doing this trade for the sake of the future. They need a big prospect forward and a good prospect goalie plus a pick.

Felix Sandström
Morgan Frost

STL, NSH and VAN say NO! St Louis are rebuilding (or retooling), Nashville would want a ton more for Tolvanen plus I can't see him going anytime soon and I'm 100% positive Vancouver doesn't want your overpaid players... Also, any rookie like *Kaapo Kakko* will only get 925k... I feel bad for any NHL fan looking at this xD

Phil Trade Again
Surprised anyone would of actually came up with such lucrative trades for Pitts... You need to get more for Phill, plus Brassard is actually worth something. Being 3rd line C behind Crosby and Malkin and still playing a well-rounded game, his value is not what you think.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksFanForLife</b></div><div>Too much or too little? One A ranked prospect, a late second, and a low end 2 RD with a big cap hit for a top line RHD who is super young and carries an incredibly low cap hit? I was being nice to the Leafs for suggesting that cost. Good grief, Montour is even a top 30 defenseman on the PK! What more could you ask for?</div></div>
I don't think you really understand how good Sandin or Liljegren will be. Sandin is already making an impact in the AHL. Liljegren was ranked really high in his draft year but because of injuries so he droped, he as well is doing unreal in the AHL and both of the young d-men will have a chance to play with the Leafs next year.
Zaitsev doesn't have a big cap hit. He is locked where as Montour has only two years. Montour will ask 5+ million and Toronto can't afford that long term.
All that to say that for what you think Montour is worth, Toronto could get a lot more. Don't get me wrong, Montour is a great defencemen and he's only what 22? I think you guys would benefit more out of him having the chemistry built with your d-men. I do appreciate the thoughts and wanting to know if the trade could work.

Contract Certainty CHI might be able to help
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>The real hard part about Seabrook is the term and size of the contract. I agree with every word you just said. It's just ~$7M for 5.5 years. I think CHI and TOR would be great trade partners in some fashion. TOR is clearly in win now mode. The Hawks want picks/prospects. TOR has picks prospects. CHI can provide experienced players (They HAVE to eat cap) How? IDK</div></div>
Thoughts on this:
LEAFS TRADE
Timashov, Dmytro -> growing prospect
Hainsey, Ron -> used to flip for picks
(50% retained salary - $1,500,000)
Conditional 2020 2nd round pick
(If Toronto makes it the playoffs, they will receive a 2nd round pick. If Toronto makes it to the conference finals, the 2nd round pick turns into a 1st round pick)
CHICAGO TRADES
Seabrook, Brent
(42% retained salary - $2,887,500)

On the other hand, the Bouwmeester trade I like a lot. Stay at home guy that help our D-core a lot.

I wouldn't move Seabrook at all. Yes he's harder to move, although Chicago needs him. If he were to go to Toronto, we would have a legitimate chance at a joke. Right handed, stay at home defencemen, reliable, etc. Seabrook and (a little off topic from Chicago and Toronto) Mark Methot from Dallas are by far the best stay at home defencemen in the league with lots of experience.

Toronto should not be able to trade a future prospect for a aging vetern. Like Rylee said, Gardiner and maybe a conditional 2nd if Gardiner signs with Chicago for Keith and between 20%-30% retained salary.

I wouldn''t give up a future elite RD for a aging defencemen, regardless who it is. Keith is a great player and would fill the needs for Toronto to be able to make a legitimate push for a cup.

Really enjoying the outlook of the trade short term. The trade is fair and is a good comparison to the Sastsny trade. Long term wise, they need to sign Laine and Connor so I can't see Max staying with WPG.

He is the role model of everything new Maple Leafs is about. I would move a pick for Puljujarvi. We have guys like Ethan Bear in the system. No need for him tho.</div></div>
I totally agree with you man. Hyman has made such an impact not only has a player being drafted in the 5th round or something like that, to a great volunteering writing books to mainly children! I happen to have one of his books!
But on the hockey side of things, Puljujarvi can grow into a really good player (Hopefully). Bear would a great asset, especially on the right hand side, and where I feel he has better potential to play top pairing alongside Morgan or even to play top 4 minutes.

but for Puljujärvi and Bear... yes Hyman is a key piece to help either Matthews or Tavares out, but for the long run it could work out.

TML 2019/20 season doesn't look that bad.
Your pretty accurate with the salaries. The three stars will for sure take discounts to make this team work. Kapenan will want a bridge deal to see if he actually puts up the numbers, all depending on Babs regarding his ice time because he barely gets any! Or I should say, more then he should be getting. Worst case, we can always get rid of Marleau during the 2019 season (most likely to San Jose, also it would be pretty sad to see him go) to help with the cap.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jempey82</b></div><div>Another thing to take into account is that there is a good chance the cap goes upto the 83 mil range which with this lineup gives an additional chunk which would cover contingencies. Although it would also only cover the true salaries of Marner Matthews and Nylander. It's close but it does show just how cap staples we are in the future.</div></div>
Jempey82 has a point in regards with the cap.
