JARMO WORKING FEVERISHLY TO SAVE HIS JOB
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>No way you move to 1. Chicago is a junkyard dawg with a big ole bone in that pick. You can probably get to 2 with a nice offer, but at the end of the day, Carlsson stock did rise at the worlds. So who knows.</div></div>
I do think he might want a NA C so that they can potentially make an impact right away but who knows. I also think Fantilli (of course they aren't getting Bedard) has a higher ceiling than anyone not named Bedard or Michkov.

Jarmo should try trading up, he still has some NHL calibre D-men to spare, maybe he send of Roslovic as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>That is tempting, but I think ultimately the Jackets would rather have Johnson & Leo Carlsson than Scheifele/Helley.
As far as their relationship with Elvis goes, it's TOO MUCH and ALWAYS ON MY MIND. IF I CAN DREAM, with SUSPICIOUS MINDS, It's NOW OR NEVER.
The CBJ will give Elvis one more year to make MEMORIES while PLAYING FOR KEEPS. Otherwise, if he keeps playing like a HOUND DOG by mid-season, and they/re having a BLUE CHRISTMAS & WAY DOWN in the standings, Jarmo will be ALL SHOOK UP and say THATS ALRIGHT, SIT DOWN, POOR BOY, BABY I DON"T CARE, we are CRYING IN THE CHAPEL over your game, and we need to buy out your contract and RETURN TO SENDER where you can check in to the HEARTBREAK HOTEL.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>goodjobbjs</b></div><div>I think it's fair-trade value if Columbus is able to extend Scheifele/ Helle</div></div>
That was my point. You still get a decent 1st rounder plus I can see them extending as this CBJ team would actually be good...esp with Babs coaching

He's 6 years older, makes $500k more, 3 inches shorter, 16 lbs. lighter, and his stats are a bit underwhelming.
Is he feisty, like Marchand?
Or does he just need a scenery change?
Why exactly should CBJ give up the #34 pick in the 2023 draft in this trade? I am just not seeing it.</div></div>
On Columbus he'd be a top 4 puck moving d-man. Really efficient at breaking the puck out of his own end and starting transitions. He hasn't really had a ton of PP time and the points reflect it, although he has looked more than comfortable when he has played on the top unit.
Im not sure CLB will move 34 for him, but i think he could be moved for a second round pick to a closer to contending team further back in the 2nd.

I think you acquire Hayes but Kuznetsov is completely unnecessary. It would take extreme misfortune to not at least get Fantilli.
Also Graves is not taking low term. It's his time to cash in right now.

Still in the running for Connor Bedard, So that still makes them one of the worst.

Lets face it this team sucked
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>Long before the injuries…before Werenski & Voracek went down, they were starting to show their true colors.
The Colorado series in Finland was just the plot of the story being revealed in the 2nd chapter. TRUE
Merzlikens is overhyped and overpaid. TRUE
Gudbranson is over the hill and not bringing any type of mentoring or positive influence in the young D corp that outweighs his diminished capacity and salary. SALARY/CONTRACT IS WHAT IT IS. WE DON’T KNOW HIS IMPACT ON ROOM BECAUSE WE ARENT IN IT.
Texier is probably never coming back. YES HE IS
They are destined to ice a bunch of AHLers. NOT FOREVER, BUT YEAH…THIS YEAR WAS RIDICULOUS
Jenner sure is trying hard to keep them together. FWIW
And Johnny has game but can’t carry an entire team. TRUE
The sad part is, they aren’t even trying to tank. TRUE
They actually do suck this bad. TRUE
Oh, and they were relying on signing a bunch of home town kids like Roslovic and Kuraly that are nothing more than bottom 6ers. KURALY IS A BOTTOM 6 BUT HAS BEEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED IN MANY WAYS. JACK CAN GO.
Foudy? Bemstrom? Robinson? OOF. BEMMER CAN GO AND THE OTHER TWO SEEM REDUNDANT, BUT I DONT KNOW ABOUT TURNING THEM BOTH LOOSE AND BANKING ON ONE.
Need to turn them loose.
Laine is made of paper mache for such a big fella. MAYBE. THE WRIST INJURY WAS A FREAK THING AND COVID IS WHAT IT IS. THE TORN TRICEPS WAS WEIRD AND LIKELY TIED TO HIS WORKING ON FACEOFFS, BUT SHOULDNT HAPPEN TO A PRO ATHLETE WHO HAS A WORLD-CLASS WEIGHT ROOM AT HIS DAILY DISPOSAL.
In 2023-24, it will take a miracle in landing Bedard. WE’RE DUE, RIGHT?
And in finding lightning in a bottle with a goaltender… DEFINITELY NEED SOLID PLAY, BUT ALSO SOLID D CORPS
Maybe a kid like Jet Greaves will emerge out of nowhere…his name sounds like he has some game.
And Merzlikens can play token minutes as the leagues highest paid backup for another year until they feel comfortable enough buying out that contract.
They need Silly to pull his head out of the clouds for year #3 and play some better hockey. KEY PLAYER NEEDED TO REBOUND
And hope Johnson & Marchenko don’t suffer the Silly sophomore slump. GOD FORBID
Oh, and they need someone in the coaching staff (like Torts did) that will hold them ALL accountable for playing a team style defense instead of just running and gunning like an undisciplined group of pond hockey misfits. WE SHALL SEE. COULD BE JARMO’S LAST HIRE AND SHOULD BE IF WE DONT SEE INSTANT IMPROVEMENT.
This is a best case scenario.
And leaves plenty of salary to re sign some players in 2024 and possible target a UFA (moving a contract like Guds or Rossie).</div></div> I THINK JACK IS LIKELY GONE, BUT GUDY IS HERE AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR AND PROBABLY TWO WHILE WE WAIT FOR THE KIDS.

FWIW, CBJ were trying to re-sign Gavrikov, but term was the big divide between them.
If they wouldn't give 27 year old Gavrikov five years, I doubt they give 31 year old Orlov 4-6 years. Even if he is a better D than Gavvy, rolling the dice on older D is a risky move.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>Let's see, I know there is a lot of talk about brining Hayes into Columbus due to connections with current players.
And he is a solid center (2C at best, now in this league).
He is a big guy, at 6'5", the type of frame that the Jackets love, since he takes up a ton of space on the ice.
That being said, he plays a lot more like a marshmallow than a bulldog (he averages about 20-30 PIMS per year in his career), and doesn't really stand up for his teammates like a guy that size should.
He is a lot like a guy we already have, in Laine, in that regard.
Oh, and his faceoff % over 10 full seasons topped 50% only 3 times. So he doesn't really bring much in that regard either.
Personally, i would probably want to target another solid 2C option with better physicality and faceoff prowess than Hayes.</div></div>
Here's the thing. Who is that center? There's no FA Centers best ones are Domi and O'Reilly, and ROR isnt signing in CBJ, and not much available Centers on the trade market. I mean JT Miller, but he's on a 8 x 8 and isnt physical either.
Hayes has the BC Connection, is a great locker room gut and can get you 60 Points a year, and has played PK most of his career (Besides this one).

Larsen would play Robinson-Kuraly-Olivier 45 mins a game and still somehow have a .550 record to push the Jackets out of the bottom 5. It's just an inevitability at this point and they're gonna have to rely on lottery luck.

5 shutouts in 8 games as a rookie was nice, but the defense was also better then. Some games this year he has literally looked like Mrazek, standing half out of the crease on a basic 2 on 1 leaving half of the net wide open and getting scored on. Every goalie has their issues, and now he's no Bob but Bob has still had probably the worst five hole of any goalie in the league since he's played and he still won 2 vezinas. Elvis has a lot of positioning issues that I just don't understand

Friedman Talking Crazy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>Let's be serious now.
The Jackets are famous for sucking from October to February...getting hot in March-April, and then drafting in the 10-14 range.
Also, keep in mind, that if they finish 32nd in the league, they only have 25% chance of getting Bedard, which is 75% chance of NOT getting Bedard.
One only has to look at CBJ draft lottery misery from 2000-2022 to know they would be picking 3rd-5th OA.</div></div>
Bedard or fantilli… won’t matter. That’s a huge add and CBJ still have the best odds to get either. Personally I think Fantilli will have more impact at the beginning and bedard will have the better career long term. But the long list of injuries is why CBJ is 32.
Voracek, werenski, bean, chinakov, and now nyquist. Might be someone else too. The names above are what?! 3 of top 6? Top 9 for sure. The best Dman on the team, and bean was what a #4? Just having all those guys only miss 10-15 games is a massive difference. Then upgrade gav to Chych and add fantilli even.. it’s a playoff team. Not making it past 2nd round if they get past 1st. But very little change for 16 spots in the standings.
