2022 Lightning Playoff Discussion
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good of a run this team has had?
I'm never gonna count this team out. Three in a row? Maybe. But if it does end like this, have a look at how good the hockey we've watched for the last 4 years has been.
Best team ever. Sweep. Reload.
The bubble cup, Gourdrowman, Stamkos' legendary goal. Vasy's brilliance. Point Kuch, Heddy with Conn Smythe.
One cup for the team.
How they gonna top a performance like that? Maybe by missing the best winger in the world and still making the playoffs. And Kuch was sharper than ever despite not playing for an eternity. More Vasy brilliance. Another WAR with the Islanders.and then a second come infront of a packed barn!
One cup for the fans.
Then we enter a full season and we see the best season we've ever seen from future hall of famer Steven Stamkos. He was going to force himself into that Olympic squad. And when the Olympic dream was taken away from him, he played even harder!
Nick Paul comes in from nowhere. Ross Colton shows glimpses of a level we never thought he was capable of. Brian Elliot! Remember when we thought he might start in the playoffs? Injury, Leafs battle, this was their year. Their story. But nobody told Nick Paul. The Leafs were gonna be the team to take Tampa's mantle. Nope.
Then the panther we're finally going to assert their dominance. Nope.
Igor was going to stripe the crown from Vasy. I don't think so.
Then, we almost won game 1 after a poor start. Lost game 2 by a landslide but answered right back with Avengence. And despite being broken, bloody, and just straight wrecked we've pushed a team that it's working on its own story for every inch in game for only to come up short by a legendary back from injury story.
Sure they're against it. Sure they hurt. But it's been a good freaking run. Maybe....
One cup for the legacy?

If it's Pointless to be Kuchless next game, I say we go with these lines:
Palat-Stamkos-Paul
Hagel-Cirelli-Killorn
Colton-Nash-Perry
Maroon-Bellemare-Koepke
I don't think Colorado is a team we should go 11/7 against.
Aim for about 20 minutes each for the Top 6 and 10 minutes for the bottom 6.
I am tempted to throw in Dumont to knock an Av out if Kuch is injured though.

That's too high for us most likely, so hopefully it's not that much

I love how different players are stepping up for the Lightning in every game. From Paul to Colton to Perry to Palat to Stammer to Kuch to...Sergachev?! Wow. Love it.

Nah, Harley's a LD. They'll look to replace him.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nill looks at veterans like Petry or Burns even though I'm personally against it. Personally my favorite candidate is adding Liljegren via offer sheet, but also options like Bear, Shattenkirk or Walker are something worth considering as long as they don't come too costly. Same applies for signing player like Schultz from free agency.
Ideally the guy Dallas is after is one that can take Klingberg's role as a PP quarterback. Heiskanen can take the PP1 role but PP2 is open for grabs.

From what I've understood, he'd like to, but ultimately it comes down to money.
If Stars had the finances the pull that off he would've been signed after last year's draft. But Nill wants to avoid making the same mistake he did with Benn and Seguin.
So right now, it's looking unlikely that he stays.

The better Paul plays the more I'm thinking we try and move killer.

I wouldn't be upset if Maroon only played around half of next season. We gotta start seeing what we have with Koepke, Fortier, and Ryfors. And Goncalves if he makes a jump in form from rookie season.
