Get Rid of Ceci
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>[
I have yet to see a post where Ceci is moved and a competent RHD takes his place. You just wrote that Ceci is worth a player or picks, in that case the Leafs better keep him. What's with this fear mongering about the Leafs losing all those players on waivers? You really think all of them on going to find room on other teams 23 man rosters?/quote]
If you see above....
Moving Ceci allows them to run a 23 man roster.</div></div>

Get Rid of Ceci
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Not bad at all... unless you ask leafs fans...</div></div>
He hasn't been bad per say, but once Hyman and Dermott come back from LTIR which is most likely sooner than later; the cap crunch is going to become quite difficult to manage. They can either house a 21 man roster with one scratch or they can rid themselves of the 4.5 million dollars belonging to Ceci and allow themselves cap relief of almost 5 million dollars for the rest of the season. Would help them not only play with a full 23 man roster but make moves later on in the year.
If they decide to keep Ceci then Dubas will have to send players down to the minors like Timashov, Gravel, Shore/Spezza and Petan where any of them are likely to be claimed. The more realistic approach in my opinion would be to trade Ceci and his one year contract to a team for maybe a player or picks and free up the space where they won't lose anyone on waivers.

Ceci is like having a goldfish as a pet. If he dies then it's not the end of the world and if he lasts long than it was worth it.
Ceci only having a one year deal is really good for the Leafs because regardless of the outcome they can walk away at the end of the season.

Ceci isn't going anywhere at the start of the season, if Liljegren and Sandin prove to be NHL ready; I could see Ceci maybe being dealt at the deadline but don't hold your breath.

Next year ideal lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Now I agree 3.5m might be too much on 3 year deal. But Carlo signed for 2.825 and his offensive production rate is half of Dermott. Now points aren't everything in when he comes to value, but Dermot sure could be looking at closer to 3m X 3.</div></div>
I still think he'll come in closer to 2.5 over 3 years. I think this season will really tell where he's at especially coming back from injury, because if he isn't at the same level he was prior to his shoulder injury the contract could be less than 2.5.

Dermott isn't going to make that kind of money unless its a long term deal. He's a denfensive defenceman who hasn't cracked 20 pts in a season. Look at a bridge deal around 2.25 for 3 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KoneDome</b></div><div>Can someone explain to me in like two sentences what escrow is related to the NHL. Am seeing a lot about it these days.</div></div>
The NHL and NHLPA withhold a percentage of player salaries, or escrow, during the season as a mechanism to ensure teams and players achieve a 50-50 split of hockey related revenue, per the rules set in the CBA. ... The amount of the escrow is simply a function of how high the cap is. Higher the cap, higher the escrow.

Then I guess Marner is sitting because the Leafs don't have the cap for that and also they wont offer that to him.

Agree with you there, I don't see a spot for him in the lineup so they could easily fetch a midround to lower round draft pick for him.

Puljujarvi Trade Suggested by Friedman
Puljujarvi is a year younger than Volkov and has played NHL games whereas Volkov has not. The Lightning really could do something along these lines because why not put Puljujarvi on a line with Stammers and Palat and have him play top 6 minutes, When he was on the Oilers he never was given the chance especially with a lineup that the Oilers iced anytime he played.
I hope to god this doesn't happen because the Lightning don't need the possibility to get any better, but if I were the Lightning I would accept.

I'm in full agreement with you there, if a deal cannot be reached I would say the most likely scenario would be a trade. However, I couldn't even begin to think what the return for a player like Marner would be.

HAHAHAHAH LEAFS CANT SIGN MARNER
Marner isn't getting 10+ per season especially after Aho and Meier's signed for much cheaper. If it's a bridge 3 year deal I wouldn't be surprised seeing a deal worth around 7 million. If it's a 5 year deal I think he'd get a little bit over what Aho got and go for around 5x8.75 a year.
