He is an identity/culture player who has shown up in big moments for this team. He is a priority to extend IMO

I would be interested in Chychrun if he extends at a decent price... but not sure thats an option especially if Lohrei continues to emerge. No interest in dealing Freddy though. He is a core piece of the franchise going forward.
From a Boston perspective, the package would probably be built around Ullmark if he would waive for Ottawa.

Ehh he had one unreal year - his first year in Vegas. He's been a 45-60 point player since then... which is exactly what Coyle and Zacha are.

Don't really view Karlsson as much of an upgrade from Zacha/Coyle... unless you have a sure-fire upgrade at 1C, I think the Bs are better off building around elite goalie, stout defense, and skilled wingers.

Yeah but Johnston, Harley, and Ottinger are all going to need deals and they're all likely top of the market.

Show Ullmark an extension in the offseason and he might waive. Ullmark + Geekie for PLD + 1st or 2nd.</div></div>
Why move Geekie? He is on a very good contract and is an RFA?

Boston Deals Ullmark and Merk in the offseason

I don't see Hague fetching a 2nd and a 4th round pick... especially given Vegas' lack of leverage. Similar to Boston Taylor Hall/Nick Foligno situation.
Merk should interest Vegas

Who is the odd man out in Vegas then? Only about $5.8M in cap space - looking like Vegas will lose a lot of offensive production this offseason.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beantownboy17</b></div><div>I love going after Vegas for a D man but I think Lohrei and Wotherspoon have both played themselves into being everyday players next year. We need depth, but there will be depth defensemen we can get for less than that. I'm also a huge Brunet fan and think he can replace Peeke as a shutdown D in a few years.</div></div>
Peeke has term and IMO is a lock for the 3rd pair for the next few years. He also shouldn't be expensive to extend.
Hague is better than Wotherspoon IMO and is not expensive/will be team controlled... that is your depth. Wotherspoon is only under team control/extended for one more year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JALeafs</b></div><div>Leafs aren't taking on 3 bad contracts for Marner.
Pulock is a great dman. But he is consistently injured and his contract is going to look horrible soon.
I get it, Leaf fans are shotting Marner into the moon right now. But he is a top 20 forward in the league. He's not being traded for a bag of pucks</div></div>
Leafs would be trading him at all time low right now... Dobson's value is significantly higher than Marner's value. Pulock played a full season last year, is a legit top 4 RHD, and is on a reasonable contract.
Islanders have one year left on Palmieri and a few left on Lee, but could always buy him out rather than deal Dobson who is on a great deal and has shown enormous potential.

Thats a big discount for Harley and some of the other FAs... Dallas has to plan for next two years when Oettinger, Johnston, Roberston, and Marchment are all going to need new deals.
Guessing at least one of Benn, Seguin, or Suter are traded/bought out. Could also see Faksa/Dadonov moved to create some cap space.

Next Year
I like Bertuzzi but I am not sure they'd bring him back... I think Freddy - Poitras - Geekie is going to be the third line next year unless Poitras makes a big jump and pushes Zacha to the wing with Pasta. I also would not want to break up Boqvist - Beecher - Brazeau 4th line.
Lindholm will not live up to that contract, but I am afraid Sweeney is going to do something like that.
Lohrei is going to be a very good defenseman but I would rather spend more money to upgrade from Edmundson as our 3rd pair

Game 6
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>Aside from the first few shifts, Grzelcyk played well for most part of the game. What offense has Shattenkirk provided?? Brazeau was also fine, rather him over Lauko and van Riemsdyk who hasn't done much after scoring one goal.</div></div>
Agreed - Grz was mostly fine and liked him over Shattenkirk, but he has limitations and I would not bring him back next season.
The most puzzling decision was taking out Beecher for Brazeau.... Beecher has been great this season. Maroon and Brazeau on the same line is too slow. Keep the 4th line together Boqvist-Beecher-Maroon and then choose between Brazeau/Lauko/JVR for the third line.
