with the exception of karlsson, i'm not seeing any upgrades.

letting heinen walk with that much cap space is criminal. would rather just keep ullmark and sign heinen

Very obvious you like Heinan but I couldn't fit him on this team. Holtz has elite goalscoring skill and is a nice return for Ully. Sway is playing himself into a top 5 goalie contract and Bussi would need waivers so they either pay 14+ mil on their cap for their goalie room or you trade Ully.

Holtz stinks. he's not an upgrade

Holtz has top 1% shooting talent in the NHL I don't get why everyone thinks he's horrible he was a rookie literally last year

I think they revisit the Kings trade, I don't see them trading him to an eastern conference team unless they absolutely have to.

Show Ullmark an extension in the offseason and he might waive. Ullmark + Geekie for PLD + 1st or 2nd.

Someone is going to give Zadorov $4.5-5M x 4.

If that's all it takes to get Karlsson, then I'd like the Flames to be in on it.

I think that's not enough value for Ullmark, but I always had trouble gauging goalie value.

Upside of PLD is huge but buy the downside with that contract is franchise altering. Not sure a 1st is worth that risk.

Why move Geekie? He is on a very good contract and is an RFA?

Getting a top 6 center essentially pushes him down to the 4th line with Poitras coming back. He's worth more as a trade piece than a 4th line center I think.

Having said that, maybe they try to move Coyle after his 60 point season. Coyle is a hard guy to replace though, even if his contract doesn't look great 75% of the time.

Don't really view Karlsson as much of an upgrade from Zacha/Coyle... unless you have a sure-fire upgrade at 1C, I think the Bs are better off building around elite goalie, stout defense, and skilled wingers.

I wouldn't do it for Karlsson, I'd do it for PLD though. You need to have a lot of faith in coaching staff, leadership group and the locker room if you're acquiring him but I think the upside may be worth it.

Coyle and Zacha are top 6 centers, not 1st line centers. With all the cap space that the Bruins have, if the opportunity is there to get a 26 y/o 1st line center, I think you do it.

How can you call PLD a first line center right now? He was playing 3rd and 4th line for the Kings - a team HEAVILY invested in his success. That contracts downside is franchise crippling.

I haven't watched much of Vegas but I'm assuming Karlsson spent most of the year on the 2nd line. Those are big numbers for a defensively responsible player. Just dreaming on what he could do with Pasta.

that isn't a good thing. shooting percentages like that aren't sustainable, indicating he likely got lucky to have the stat line he has.

Ehh he had one unreal year - his first year in Vegas. He's been a 45-60 point player since then... which is exactly what Coyle and Zacha are.

Shooting %s where a guy who’s been a mid shooter his entire career randomly shoots 20% are generally outliers.

A guy who’s biggest strength throughout his entire career is his incredible shot shooting at a high rate is predictable

He didn’t mention %s either. He said talent. Holtz is an always has been a sniper

Alex Holtz averaged 7.94 shots/60 this year 5v5. That ranked 89th among all forwards in the league, and would rank him 3rd among bruins forwards. And it was even higher when NJD still had bottom 6 depth and he played with competent linemates

per 60 doesn't always translate. there's a reason he doesn't get much ice time. his shots would rank 10th for the bruins, and heinen, just three shots behind him, missed the start of the season because he was on a pto.

Lindy Ruff and Travis green being morons?

You claimed holtz doesn’t get a lot of shots. That is objectively false.

Holtz has faults. Plenty of things to be wary about.

But his shooting ability, and his ability get open and generate shots, are not among them.

Which suggests you know little to nothing about Holtz. And probably should be asking questions rather than making statements.

In terms of shots/60 5v5 he ranks 9th among guys age 21 or younger

Peterka, Wyatt, Laffy,Evangelista, Laferriere, Fantilli, and Perfetti are the only ones ahead.

Some notable young guys who generate less shots than Holtz

Bedard, Carlsson, Stutzle, Byfield, McTavish, Slafkovsky, Beniers, Cooley, Raymond, Jarvis, Mercer.

“Alex holtz doesn’t take a lot of shots” is just a wildly bad take

this feels like you trying to pump your guy up a little bit. i just don't see it with holtz. potential? plenty of it. he hasn't figured it out yet though.

Alex Holtz has flaws. His defensive game still needs some polish, and he really needs to be more careful with the puck, as there are some bad turnovers at times.

He is never going to be a play driving guy.

But he is fantastic at getting open for shots in the ozone, and he is an incredible shooter.

The offensive tools are already there to be a 35 goal scorer literally next year if you stick him into a role in the top 6 and PP1.

Now, whether his defensive and puck position game will follow to an acceptable level is the question that determines whether he’s Mike Hoffman or Tyler Toffoli
