Also, Bussi requires waivers so not sure they'd sign a backup? He seems ready to be a backup next year.

I haven't watched much of Vegas but I'm assuming Karlsson spent most of the year on the 2nd line. Those are big numbers for a defensively responsible player. Just dreaming on what he could do with Pasta.

Coyle and Zacha are top 6 centers, not 1st line centers. With all the cap space that the Bruins have, if the opportunity is there to get a 26 y/o 1st line center, I think you do it.</div></div>
How can you call PLD a first line center right now? He was playing 3rd and 4th line for the Kings - a team HEAVILY invested in his success. That contracts downside is franchise crippling.

Show Ullmark an extension in the offseason and he might waive. Ullmark + Geekie for PLD + 1st or 2nd.</div></div>
Upside of PLD is huge but buy the downside with that contract is franchise altering. Not sure a 1st is worth that risk.

letting heinen walk with that much cap space is criminal. would rather just keep ullmark and sign heinen</div></div>
Very obvious you like Heinan but I couldn't fit him on this team. Holtz has elite goalscoring skill and is a nice return for Ully. Sway is playing himself into a top 5 goalie contract and Bussi would need waivers so they either pay 14+ mil on their cap for their goalie room or you trade Ully.

No disrespect but even as a Bruins homer, this is a crazy take. Eriksson Ek is a tremendous talent and has way more raw tools than Poitras. I hope I'm wrong but no way do I see Poitras as a line driving 1C which Eriksson Ek already is.

Opening Night
How is Holtz defensively? I think if he can be schooled up to the Bruins defensive structure, this is a solid deal. Is a low 1st rounder from a different team all that better than a post hype sleeper like this? Ully is not going to get us a 1C so this might be the B's best deal.

I mean Karlsson (31) at 3 x 5.9mm or Lindholm (29) at 7x7mm? 7x8mm? I know Lindholm had a down year which lowers his cost but the lack of quality centers will get him paid nonetheless. I like the shorter deal here so I think Karlsson would be sweet. Now would Vegas get a better offer than that? Almost certainly.

There was an article today discussing how LA could buy out PLD and get out of much of the contract without destroying their cap. If you want to roll the dice on him, prob better to wait for that and sign him to a prove it deal.

Are we sure that Elias is a big enough upgrade over Coyle to commit to him until he's 36? I think if you can get Guentzel to commit to that contract, you do it for sure.

The Bruins will want Lorhei in a prime spot next year and Wotherspoon has been a revelation. I really can't see the pick deprived B's giving up a 1st rounder for Provorov. They may also be kicking the tires on Hanfin.

Signing Hanifin in Free Agency
Wouldn't this be 30% plus of the salary cap spent on the Bruins top 4 defense? Many of those locked in for a long time. I'm actually a little skeptical that Sweeney wants to forfeit so much flexibility. The Bruins commonly find good, cheap defensemen that work in the Bruins system. Seems easier to exploit that in todays NHL than find reliable middle six scoring, the real bugaboo of this team for the last 10 years...
