I don’t see either team doing this deal. Tweaks are important, but Moore’s long term contract is pretty valuable.

On a side note, Lysell is likely to dwarf the potential of any player available at the Kings pick. He’s performing at the AHL level and the only reason he fell was concerns that he wasn’t going to play a team oriented game. Trading him after his improvement in that area is flat out nuts. He still has some work to do, but he’s a high potential player who won’t net a pick high enough to justify trading him.

This deal isn’t it if it happens between the two teams

I'd say Ullmark is worth a 1st rounder and I can see an argument where Moore and Lysell are even in value but I'd still give the advantage to Moore as the established NHL player

I'd take the 3rd rounder off but, it's close

Would you move him to the wing or just play him at 3c and not sign Monahan?

Doesn't seem realistic, Moore was a 30 goal-scorer for LA last season, and has gelled incredibly well with Danault who is already losing Arvidsson (unless he takes a discount).

Ullmark to LA has been discussed to death, but really it boils down to the fact would the Bruins wait for LA to sign Byfield, address reupping or replacing Roy, and LA trying to get the best UFA goaltender signed once the free agency starts.

Also, Bussi requires waivers so not sure they'd sign a backup? He seems ready to be a backup next year.

I get that but this is a very weak goaltending free agency class. Seems like the right time to make a move for a goalie.

he's not a winger. fourth line duties aren't an option, and wing isn't an option. either don't sign monahan, or don't trade for moore (kings don't accept anyhow) and move zacha to wing. the bruins clearly want him playing as a winger long term.

I mean LA did fine with $1.85M on Talbot and Rittich, I'd argue Stolarz/Brossoit tandem would be an improvement, and the Kings could make reclamation projects out of Samsanov, Lankinen, Murray, Nedeljkovic. The chance for good backups to get a shot to be a starter might be great enough for LA to double down on budget goaltending and make their upgrade before the deadline.

I think it’s as simple as this.

1. If Boston gets an indication that Elias Lindholm isn’t going to sign there, we could hear about discussions including LA and Ullmark centering around DuBois and other compensation. I think the relative value of other compensation will be a 2024 first, but may show up as a 2025 2nd and a prospect or someone like Spence.

2. If Boston believes they are going to sign Lindholm, they will trade Ullmark to the highest bidder during the draft to secure picks or prospects, but have the cap room to sign a premium forward on top of Lindholm (whose playoffs have shown something BTW).

LA seems to be in a position where they are going to go bargain basement hunting again for a goaltender though Ullmark seems possible if they go young at D and move DuBois to forward to replace Arvidsson under the second scenario or the scenario where they can get off of PLD’s salary.

I personally believe Boston is signing Elias Lindholm.

Two of these names are likely outside of LA’s cap position. I’d also argue they did fine until they played teams that could deal with the Kings outstanding defensive structure and then their goalies were an issue.

I agree Zacha is likely going to wing. I believe when he’s able to focus less on the defensive structure of center, he’s a more effective overall player.

The hope is, this is a free agent goaltenders best opportunity to start a playoff game rather than signing with a contender as a backup. Not sure I see Stolarz or Brossoit getting more than $3M, if LA can solve their goaltending tandem with $4M I think they can be competitive enough. They also won't be as strong defensively with a new system and Roy gone.

Stolarz might be interesting, but I kind of expect him and Nedeljkovic are going to get more money than you think they’ll deserve.

Ned fell to earth the second half of the season, him and Jarry didn't look all that awesome this season. The value will really come from desperate contenders. If the Devils and Oilers make this a bidding war for goaltenders it will be tough, but LA should be a target after Korpisalo got his pay day (and Talbot and Rittich see raises). The concern I have is LA has the Penguins old goaltending coach which means he's definitely going to want one of DeSmith or Murray coming to LA.

Or maybe Jack Campbell with retention

It pains me to trash-talk Campbell. But Soupy needs the full minor league rehab. LA's minor team Ontario lit him up in the AHL playoffs and swept him, while Portillo has been lights out as a first-year pro.

The only way he comes to LA is if he is bought out and is ok being a backup to Portillo, and even then Ingham or another vet could easily edge him out sending Campbell to ECHL, he doesn't deserve that.

At full retention, he fits your financials

Campbell is not NHL caliber (.873 over 5 games) has played about as poorly as Cal Petersen (.864 over 5 games), both are now closer to full time AHL starters. And Campbell wouldn't even be LAs best goaltender on the Reign, it would be Portillo (by a lot)

Portillo is posting a .956 SV%, 3 shut outs and is 5-0 entering the third round of the AHL playoff and top-5 numbers during the regular season. LA would be better off reupping Rittich and Talbot than bringing back Campbell.
