Boston trade definitely isn't an overpayment. Calgary can get a vetter return trading them separately. The only reason Boston declines is it puts them over the cap

Edmonton might get desperate and it would take an overpayment like that for them to fet Tanev

Tanev never brings back 2 1sts I’ll stop watching the nhl all together if they do

Not from another team maybe but from Edmonton yes. Again it will have to take a trade that doesn't want us to fire Conroy even if that trade leads Edmonton to a cup win

COL is probably going to have to move Girard for futures in the off season to create space, they aren’t trading him and taking on a bigger longer contract. Pretty easy no.

I think they can't trade the 2025 first round pick as well because of the 2024 pick is protected?

Possibly. Not sure if Boston can basically say we're going to trade our 2025 pick so Detroit will get our 2024 pick with no protection.

BOS would have to throw either Forbort or Grzelcyk in at the very least, or offer DeBrusk for very cheap

Lysell isn't really a want/need for CGY either though, so it'd have to be Poitras OR instead of Forbort/Gryzelcyk/DeBrusk as I mentionned above, make it Zacha

This assumes BOS is able to sign both Lindholm & Hanifin to extensions

They can, they would just add a condition that the pick transfer to 2026 in the scenario where Boston's is top 10 this year causing the Detroit 1st to be delayed. Then there would be some sort of compensation pick for the delay (either e 3rd or 4th rounder)

Kinger, Broberg is no longer considered to be worth a 1st. He's struggled to cement himself as an NHL Player

Liljegren has cemented himself as an NHL'er but many don't believe he's worth a 1st anymore either.

Just because a Player WAS Drafted in the 1st, doesn't mean they hold that value forever my friend, especially when they're running out of runway and Waiver Exemption and can be lost next year to Waivers for nothing. Broberg MIGHT be considered worth a 3rd, but it's more likely he's valued as a 4th/5th at this point

Looking at it in reverse, TOR Fans value Minten as a 1st, but by your same logic here, he can't be worth more than a 2nd can he!?

Colorado was unwilling to go longer than 4 years on Kadri. They aren't going to move a 25yr old defenseman locked up until he's 29 for a 33yr old center locked up until he's 38.

I would be very open to Lysell if Poitras is off the table.

Hanifin should be cut from the trade all together and make it around Lysell, 2025 1st, another prospect worth at least a 2nd options and Forbort/Geekie for cap

And wouldn’t even if they did.

Boston is more than likely acquiring a cheaper top 6 option at the deadline IF Lysell hasn’t emerged by then.

The last thing I see is then going all in when they have the cap flexibility to buy free agents and keep their prospect/draft capital.

Lindholm, I believe, is the one player where they might deviate from that for the right price. I’ve suggested Grz or DeBrusk,, Lysell, #1, and another good (not great prospects).

Otherwise, I’m expecting somebody like Anthony Duclair

I guess he’s still only 20, I just see a bunch of guys ahead of him: Ruzicka, Coronato, Duehr, Klapka, even PPG AHL’ers Hunt & MEP

Lysell doesn’t wow or excite me is all

He’s still an intriguing piece given the fact Defensemen take longer to develop and he’s only 22.5, but he’d be considered more of a calculated gamble at this point

Either you hope a change of scenery helps him take it to the next level or you ask for a Younger Prospect or Pick you have time to develop yourself, since again, Broberg has to clear waiver next season and could easily be claimed for nothing

Well it's all about adding more conditions. Florida's 2024 1st is top 10 protected from the Giroux trade and transfers to 2025 if not. In that scenario Calgary doesn't get Florida's 2025 1st and instead gets their 2026 1st. That also plays into the Monahan trade conditions a bit too

No interest in Vladar, no spot for him and can't add his cap

Is that enough reasons why Ottawa would turn down this proposal?

He has 2 more years of ELC and having a decent start to the year. He doesn't need to be making the lineup right away. The idea is to get picks and prospects to be in a situation like LA. Outside of our own pick maybe none of the picks we collect for the draft are expected to be making the NHL any time soon. And if we are doing a roster "reconstruction" (or whatever we want to call it) then who someone is currently ahead of in the depth chart is not that relevant. What is relevant is their potential. Lysell has top 6 potential and so far is tracking very similarly to Zary. Bad 1st year in the AHL, big 2nd year.

I would put Coronato, Ruzicka, and Duehr ahead of him sure but not the rest. Klapka can play center like i believe he's been doing since we swapped Zary and Coronato
