Fix it new GM

And 10 million per for Boeser? Hahahahahahahaha</div></div>
Ok, it’s probably going to be closer to 9. You’re going to be pretty disappointed when you look up William Nylander’s contract and think about what that means for Brock’s deal if it buys UFA years. The only way he is cheap is if it’s a 2 or 3 year bridge deal.
I’m skeptical Tanev gets more than that at this point. If he was traded a year or two earlier, absolutely. His game has declined though and Vancouver won’t be getting Kasperi Kapanen and a first anymore.

The Marleau Idea
I’d be curious if Toronto would take on half of Jay Beagles contract over the next three years in exchange for Marleau.
So like, Beagle (50 percent retained = 3x1.5 M) for Marleau (1x6). Vancouver could then immediately buy him out and Marleau does whatever he wants. Don’t know if that works for either team (or what Toronto would have to add), but that would be my first thought.

Should the Canucks sign Panarin if he hits free agency?
Yes. Offer him the John Tavares contract and see what happens. I doubt he says yes, but they’d be crazy not to try (or worse, ignore him and target Simmonds straight away).

I can see that. The idea was too amusing to not include though.

Counter-program Benning
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>shmoeman</b></div><div>Yea, it would be tough for stone to decline an offer paying him 15 mill a season, even if its just for 2 seasons. Id say its fairly unrealistic because i havent really seen anything of the sort in hockey (in other sports its happened) but who knows, interesting compromise</div></div>
The closest comparable I can think of in hockey is actually the Mats Sundin deal. Which could have gone horribly, but was not bad in principle. I think it only makes sense for the right player (elite) in the right age range (26/27) with the right team (enough ELCs, bad enough that they might need to overpay).

This^ is terrible.. The Buffalo trade?? Wtf. You sir should become an Oilers fan. Would have alot more to whine about.</div></div>
Would you trade Virtanen and Juolevi for Parayko? Would St. Louis? No, of course they wouldn’t, because that’s what happens when a defenseman settles in as a #1, they become virtually untouchable (unless they are Dougie Hamilton, because museums?).

You’re right. Revised. He now makes 29.8 million over the next two seasons and is unresticted again at age 28 (or re-signs if the terms are agreeable to everyone). At some point money trumps term, surely.

Nucks playoff bound next year
Instead of 18 million on your three forwards, why not sign Stone for 10, keep roussel, not bury Baertschi on LTIR and play Virtanen higher up the lineup?
In a couple years that’s a lot of money invested in guys on the wrong side of 30. Simmonds looks like the Loui Eriksson of this year’s FA class. Also, Baer is closer to Nyquist than Nyquist is to Panarin, IMO.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMTD</b></div><div>Terrible for who? Pilut has demonstrated that he could be an awesome PP defenseman, is that too much for him?
Yes he is, but that is a really good offer, IDK enough about the projected upside for Virtanen but Juolevi could be equally awesome and they were 6th and 5th over all picks. I love Pilut but this is an outstanding offer for a 1st year player.
Wow that is an excellent offer, I just wonder if Benning would give up that much for a player who has a 23 game NHL career.</div></div>
I doubt Benning would, he’s not a former first round pick (Sbisa, Gudbranson, Schenn). We’ve seen how that goes.
Maybe it’s an overpayment but I’d rather err on the side of being too generous than being naive. Also, Pilut was the SEL top defenseman a year ago with HV71.

The fact that he’s a Benning fan should be your first clue that he’s an insider. I guess the second is that he’s paraphrasing Burke. :sarcasm
As you know, this is exactly the sort of player the team needs - a mid 20s RFA defenseman that can play in the top 4 and not get bulldozed.

Term kills teams far more than AAV. Why not add a max contract while Pettersson is still on an ELC?

Who is offering stone a max contract? The alternative is probably 10x6 which I’d also do

Alternatively, sign Kiselevich if Pilut is too tough to acquire.
