(OTT/FLA) - Tarasenko for 2024 4th (FLA), 2025 3rd (FLA)
This is laughably bad for the Senators, they couldn't even pry a decent prospect out of Florida. I get that the trade protection on Tarasenkos deal allowed him to dictate where he went, but that doesn't change the fact that this trade is horrible. For crying out loud, Anthony Mantha cost the Knights more than this.
This is highway robbery for the Panthers who add another lethal offensive weapon to their already loaded forward group. At only 2.5m, he is going to be extremely valuable. If they want to buy more, they easily could (granted they don't have the money). This was a masterclass of a trade from Zito and a complete blunder by Staios

Canes get a 6th rounder for just $687K in cap space? Canes still have $5.95M to work with. Not bad work if you can get it.

Rielly did well with Boosh the last time they were together
Its not crazy big assets (3rd and 6th less then what they gave the first time)
Hes coming at under league min once all ret is in place.
Im fine with it, not a super needle mover but considering the recent injury a necessary one
Also wont be the only move as they still got assets and cap space

Love this move by Treliving, we find another Luke Schenn who can play with Rielly. How many first round picks would Dubas have given up?

Vancouver Canucks signed Elias Pettersson (8 Years / $11,600,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Colonel_Green</b></div><div>The moral of the story is that bullying works.
A very good signing; I still don't understand why Canucks management felt the need to play urgent hardball here, though.</div></div>
Pettersson's position was to postpone any contract talks until next summer. Allvin was fine with it until he realized they are contenders now.
The team needs to know right away what will be their cap situation next year to add players with term at the next TDL. Thus the bullying:
1) They acquired Lindholm, who shows the will of the team to go all in, please pettey as a fellow swedish teammate and act as a replacement threat if a plan B is needed, plus ;
2) leaked rumors of a trade to Carolina to force him back to the negociation table.
And it worked since he's now resigned, for max term, under $12M and it's not summer yet.

Good signing for Pettersson, great signing for the Canucks, good signing for CapFriendly because now we won't see any more "imaginative" Pettersson-to-here-there-and-everywhere trade proposals.

This is an excellent signing for the Canucks. Pettersson is the face of the franchise, and seeing him buy in for the next 8 years is super exciting. 11.6m is the perfect price for Petey, I am so excited to see this team in the coming years. Such a bright future in Vancouver, and they can now just focus on what lies ahead now that there is some certainty with their core.
Curious to see if the Canucks will be more trigger happy at the TDL now, obviously they already went out and got Lindholm, but now they know their budget for next year. This extension couldn't have come at a better time. So happy for Vancouver and the third Sedin brother

3 years younger, better defensively, and being a center outweighs 7 points. Oh and Petey had the better offensive year last year too

(CGY/VAN) - Lindholm for Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz, Jurmo, 2024 1st (VAN), 2024 4th (VAN)
Lindholm played on the top line with EP40 for Team Sweden. They are also friends. Reuniting them might be something EP40 requested. It certainly won't harm the Canucks chances to resign either.
Kuzmenko is fun to watch on offense (power-play specialist) but has completely lost his and the Canuck's confidence. He is a liability defensively. He will be exposed on a weak team. He is one of the more adorable players in the league and an awesome interview. (A cross between Munenori Kawasaki and Ilya Bryzgalov.)
Jarmo needs to sign by this June or is also UFA. He is a huge stay-at-home defenceman. Not likely to come over to NA but I am certain the Flames will do their best.
Hunter turned 19 in November and didn't qualify for the WJC. He is having an outstanding season for the Rangers. Still just a B+ prospect.
All picks are lottery tickets. The more you have the greater the chance one has of cashing in.
Best part of this trade is the Canucks didn't have to part with any of their top A prospects: Willander, EP2, or Lekkermaki
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>majormoose007</b></div><div>Well I was half right</div></div>
Canucks will need to make the WCF for it to convert to a third. Otherwise, what you said is the result.

(CGY/VAN) - Lindholm for Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz, Jurmo, 2024 1st (VAN), 2024 4th (VAN)
The Nucks win because Lindholm was clearly the best center available this year and they are a much better team now. Great package for Calgary, generally speaking, but at the same time Van is win now mode.
They got the best center available, with teams that wanted him. Big dub.
As an aside, what does Boston do now? Dvorak? ..

(MTL/WPG) - Monahan for 2024 1st (WPG), 2027 3rd (WPG)
from a hockey stand point, this clearly makes the Jets way better. They aren't good in the dot, in fact it's one of their only legit weaknesses and they went and got someone who will help them a bunch there. He might resign. But in general, they needed that help, so if he stays healthy, this was a good move by them. What, they gave up a late first and another pick if they win the Cup?
Nobody in WPG gives a flyin eff about those pieces. They have a legit cupboard of mid 1st round picks coming up. Good to see them actually make an impact trade for once.
They going to resign DeMelo, Dillon, and Monahan?

Kuzmenko had Calgary on his no trade list is hilarious. Canucks will reward him by engraving his name on the Stanley Cup. He played 43 games so his services count.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>i think people undervalue kuzmenko a lot. a warm body who outproduced the player he was traded for in the last 2 years is crazy.</div></div>
Vancouver as a team has a goal differential of +59 yet Kuz was the only forward on the team carrying a minus rating. He's a defensive liability which is why he was repeatedly a healthy scratch. He's all offense, and when the offense isn't there, he's a detractor for the team.
