Guentzel to the Red Wings makes a lot sense.

Cat Garland 4th overall
While I won't argue the value, it's probably about right, I would say there's a 99% chance only one cap move is made. After Myers is dumped, Garland is no longer negative value. Teams are using their leverage to force us into moving an otherwise positive value player because of the situation we are in. Therefore on moving Myers, Garland is no longer a problem. Or vice versa.
I'd sooner see us slide down a few spots and pick in the 1st round still, or move lower level assets w/ 1 of them for FC.
A move like this would be looked at for a long term as killing the team, regardless of how fair it is in the moment.

Vancouver saves $1,400,000 between Vrana and Boeser. Plus less term with Vrana. I think Allvin/Rutherford would accept this.

Not by much, take out mazur and Kubalik and it’s still fair. Get a top line 26 yo who will score 40 goals this year and keep you top forward and defensive prospect. Build around Meier, Larkin, Raymond, Kasper, Seider, Edvinsson, Hronek. That’s a pretty good team for a long time

I'd love to get a player for Bert. Holtz from NJ? I don't think we get a Stankoven level player for him.
We aren't gonna get much for Vrana. I'm pretty confident it'll be a player back with retained salary once he's dealt. Friedge reporting he's being showcased. https://twitter.com/RyanHanaWWP/status/1628819923307839489?s=20</div></div>
I think guys like holtz or Stankoven are just too high in the prospect ranks to get. I like Maverick Bourque in Dallas a lot or maybe a guy like Seamus Casey out of NJ.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>None of those trades are good for Detroit.
No incentive to trade Vrana save retain for a third. Rather see him try to return to form. Don't know what's up with him though.
A first I'm 2024 isn't a great return for bertuzzi, that player drafted is like 4 years from making an impact on this team.
Waaaay too much to give up for Meier. Half that package should be the max for us to send them.</div></div>
It might be best to just cut ties with Vrana and bet on Puljujarvi's upside. That being said Detroit might not be the best fit for him.
Getting a player that makes an impact in 4 years from now would be a good thing, since right now they are getting Meier and they have all the young guys on the roster now and who will make it next year to pay. Deep prospect pool, 100% worth getting an impact player like Meier. Detroit is in the Atlantic division, it's not going to get easier any time soon. It all should be dependent on how much Meier extends for though anything more than 8.5m should be passed on.
Just need to adjust the Meier trade a little as well. For starters trading Kubalik might not make a lot of sense. Might as well keep him and find Vrana a different home.

I don't think anything here is crazy, if they just want vrana gone Edmonton might take a chance and a pick and poolparty is fine. I'd rather do Bert for a high prospect we could see sooner than later than a late 1st but it's acceptable. Now if we aren't going to part with Edvinsson or Kasper then a big package like that is what it's going to take. Hate seeing Bergy go but Meier replaces him in the line up so it's an upgrade not a loss. It's probably one piece too maybe take kuby or Mazur out I'd say. I'm all for being aggressive.

SJ is open to different types of offers, Detroit, might not get the winning bid with the 1st but it won't be ignored. I think if Grier starts allowing teams to talk to Meier, then Detroit can be in, or if they creep into the wc spot.

Couldn't this be an option as well? One of Johansson/Wallinder/Mazur+ a 1st + Zadina + a goalie prospect (if they are interested in any other than Cossa lol). If they have to though they can be more aggressive and offer Rasmussen+ a 2024 1st + Zadina. I think that can be very competitive. Teams aren't necessarily trying to give up their best prospects, so they can probably outbid even NJ unless they go all in, but at least they tried. Carolina will definitely be conservative with their offer, it will have to make sense and depends on getting more information such as extension #'s.

I think this is the right approach. The current team is not winning a cup this year, even with Meier, so no sense in getting into a bidding war with contending teams. It would be smart to take advantage of cap strapped teams in the offseason.

Detroit should get him this year at the TDL if they are close enough to the wild-card spot. Sneak in last minute, offer a good prospect+2024/2023 1st+ Zadina
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caboose119z</b></div><div>If people read they'd know this isn't even a trade with SJS. It is a trade with a team that acquires him and can't afford to keep him.</div></div>

Robertson is an unproven 19yo whose ceiling, we would <em>hope</em>, is what Bertuzzi's is today. That's a big risk to make that trade 1 for 1.
Toronto would have to add a pick and/or prospect to this. I'm thinking Robertson + Sandin + 3rd, or something along those lines would get it done for Yzerman.
