IMO idk how much of a fan i am of the Pionk deal. But i dont think we get the first otherwise, and I cant see how guschin and bords play in the same team at the NHL level with 6 other first or second year NHLers

Pionk may have been the worst player in the AVS/Jets playoff series. 😬

No chance Winnipeg pays a 1st to take back more bad salary than they're sending out.

He can pretend to be 1D for one more year i know itttt, but its more about our D core having some more clearly defined roles

Even the Shark homer in me doesn't see Peg giving up a 1st in that deal.

There's better RHD UFAs than Pionk. Granlund should get a 1st alone. Benning is a fantastic middle pairing guy. Bords is starting to actually find his game. Fabbri taking Eklunds spot in the top 6 is infuriating. Couture may never play again. Overall, throwing every top prospect into the NHL at the same time is a perfect way to destroy their development, so if they get Macklin then let either him or Smith go back another year

Only thing I like is Marchessault, but I'd prefer they target Stephenson and then another Center/RW like Duchene, Domi, Duclair, etc.

Neither of those guys are on bad contracts lol. Granlund is a true 2C and Benning is on an insanely cheap deal as a solid 2nd/3rd pairing D

Can you be more of a damn homer? Benning is cheap as hell and Granlund put up 60 in 69 games. How exactly is that bad money?

Yeah, they both are. Granlund was brought in as a cap dump. A fluke year doesn't change what he is. Why did you think no one was interested at the tdl?

Benning is paid too much for a 6/7D.

When you demand a third to take on Fabbri, and then put him on your first line. 😂

He had a fluke year while being on one of the worst offensive teams in the salary cap era? lol He's hit the 60+ point mark 4 times in his career. Maybe watch him play before saying something so ignorant

Same goes for Benning, calling a middle paring RHD making 1.25 mil a year "paid too much" is some wild mental gymnastics

Winnipeg doesn't need more forwards. They have enough as it is. Pionk isn't a cap dump. He was outmatched against Colorado but he's still an effective second pairing defenseman. This trade doesn't make sense for Winnipeg.
I would be surprised if Fabbri cost that much to dump. Could probably retain and get positive value for him.

Granlund played well worth his money this year. Benning is worth his salary…………… or at least he was but he got injured so its iffy.

The fluke year for granny was in Pittsburgh. There was plenty of reported interest but the sharks chose to take the hertl contract off their books with their last retention slot. Figuring out 1.5 years with third party retention is tricky at the deadline. I would imagine he gets moved this year unless he displays real leadership for the kids and we keep him around. Idk if fabbri is the type of player the sharks want i just see the trade a lot on here.

Lance thank you for filling me in. I spaced on the Monahan deal so if youre set for forwards then for sure this doesnt make sense.

Brother I didn’t demand anything. The lines are split more evenly based on experience. I didn’t want to put guschin with smith or celebrini, and the sharks are really really really really bad. If Detroit doesnt need the cap space then the sharks can just find a different trade of this ilk or try to get duclair back.

It always had more to do with how god awful we are than how ‘good’ fabbri is

Yeah, if the Jets are looking for a forward I don't think one year of a 32YO. And 2 years of a 30YO bottom pairing D will be very high on the list.

Detroit isn't paying a 3rd to move Fabbri. He put up 18g and 32 points in 68 games while averaging just under 13 minutes a game.
