Changes to Top Six
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>Yah they have multiple reasons
1. They are not winning or making the playoffs with this current core
2. Petterson is a piece that can fetch a hefty return (See my realm of ballpark above)
3. They need new blood in the organization both players and management</div></div>
1.Mangment has made it clear they are not rebuilding. IF Vancouver was to blow it up the Canes really don't have anything interesting in a rebuild move Morrow is a nice piece but isn't enough to be a blue-chip prospect in a Pettersson trade. Only team that might have the pieces for it is CJB with 3ova +
2. Of course Pettersson is going to fetch a hefty return he is 100 point 24 year old rfa,
3. I mean they already have done that, Leadership group change and new management in the past year is getting new blood in the organization.

VAN only moves Pettersson if he wants out. Also, VAN ownership is not going to do a rebuild either.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>That's not a reasonable price for Petterson. Buncha random pieces, none of them sniffing the ceiling of Pettersson?
Doesn’t make sense for either side. Van loses value and Carolina guts their depth and picks and prospect pool

What is the cost of a 100 point 24 yr old centre with team control?
Probably 3rd overall plus a top prospect plus a high end roster player.
Aka it’s not really possibly for Carolina. CBJ or MTL or SJ would be much better trading partners, if Van were to decide to offload Pettersson (they wouldn’t tho)

The Canucks have no reason to move him so of course our demand is going to be high lol

Vancouver is not trading Pettersson. The ask would be so absolutely obnoxious from Vancouver.
If you are looking for a good young centre who may be available, look at PLD with Winnipeg.

With how deep the draft supposedly is supposed to be I say 2023 1sts will be a hell of increase in value, Severson is great but unless an extension is in place a 2023 1st might be too big a pill for some GM’s to swallow, 2024 & 2025 Sure just not 2023 with the look of the deepness of the draft

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>Kuzmenko is faar from a sure thing. Yes he looks good, like most KHL guys who come over to North America, but for one reason or another a lot of them don't work out here. Kuzmenko could be great, or he could be terrible, so I'm not gonna assume he'll be a top 6 even top 9 player next year.</div></div>
And yet in your outcome it seems like you have him flopping in the NHL level. All the meanwhile I do get that a lot of Russian players have flopped but there’s been a good amount recently that haven’t. In my very honest unbiased opinion I think he will end up succeeding in the NHL. He just seems like he has the talent to find that success in the league. I do t expect any crazy numbers from him like Kaprisov or Panarin rookie numbers. But I think he’ll still perform decently.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>First of all, Severson is probably resigning with the Devils. He himself wants to stay in New Jersey, and they have the cap space to resign him. Second of all, there are a ton of teams with the cap room for Severson that are ready to contend. Ottawa and Detroit come to mind immediately, Anaheim is on the way up, same with Buffalo and of course New Jersey. The Kings might be an option, depending on how they approach their contract situation, and some other teams could potentially make a swing for him, the Canucks are far from the only or best destination for him. I don't really know what you mean by "and Be back on the in Western Canada again," I don't even know if that's english. There's like two or three NHL teams between where he grew up and Vancouver, they're not even in the same time zone. I'm pretty sure St Paul, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Chicago, and Seattle are all closer than Vancouver, and I'm not even sure he cares about playing near where he grew up, a lot of players don't.
Furthermore, having a guy like Horvat on the 3rd line is such a waste of his talents, giving him less ice time to work. It's just unequivocally a worse option than having Miller and Petey on the 1st line, with Horvat leading the 2nd line. Horvat is too good to play 3C. I mean seriously, tell me one team who has a player of Horvat's caliber on their 3rd line. I'll wait</div></div>
If just like to elaborate the Severson part. It doesn’t matter how much cap space the Devils have for him, but it’s rather the need for him back in New Jersey. If they wanted to keep him around they wouldn’t have pulled the trigger on acquiring John Marino AFTER drafting Simon Nemec. So all the meanwhile you aren’t wrong, they don’t need to do a darn thing, they still have Dougie Hamilton and John Marino and then in the prospect pool you also have Simon Nemec as already named, Reilly Walsh, another recently drafted RHD Seamus Casey, Shakir Mukhamadullin(he’s listed as a RD even though he’s a lefty). So for New Jersey there is a good amount of decisions they must make when it comes to Severson and Ryan Graves as Luke Hughes is another defencemen that’ll be getting a look in the league later in the season id imagine.

Saying DiPietro is a spare part is reasonable. Saying that about Rathbone just tells me you know nothing about him. Sure he is older than most prospects, but he was one of the best AHL rookie prospect last season putting up over a point per game as a d man. He isn't a spare part in the slightest

man, I agree that OP's proposal is weak, but I can't imagine any world where Brandon Carlo gets traded one for one for Elias Petterson. Carlo is a good top-4 defense-first Dman. Pettersson is a no-doubt 1C. Boston would be adding, and adding quite a bit, to any trade centered on Carlo for Pettersson

My Other Take
Karlsson had a great year here in Sweden and him coupled with that 1st rd pick (preferably in 2023 tho) would be a perfectly acceptable return for Severson come TDL provided the Devils are out of the running for the playoffs.
Also, I cannot in one million years see any GM other than Chuck Fletcher giving up anything close to a 2nd rd pick for Myers at this point.
