Chicago Blackhawks signed Cody Franson (1 Year / $1,000,000 AAV)
Good! He shores up the right side for the Hawks. Now they just need a top 4 LHD. Trade deadline?

Chicago gets all the good bargain contracts, don't they?

Capitals also signed Alex Chiasson. Another PTO guy getting a deal

Washington Capitals signed T.J. Oshie (8 Years / $5,750,000 AAV)
This contract might be a bit long, and very beneficial in the short term, and the Caps will be paying for it in the back half of his contract however it hasn't been noted by anyone yet, that the NHL cap is likely to rise at a bit in the next 8 years. Will 5.75mil for a 38-year-old hockey player be bad, yes, will it be as bad as that looks today? Probably not.

He may be worth 5.75 million a year, but definitely not worth an 8 year deal. Love the player, but I hate the contract he has.

You'd think the Orpik example on this team is enough to beware of lengthy contracts. C'mon GMBM. Maybe you're trying to entice people to play for this team with these lengthy contracts, but you come across as idiotic.
Glad for Oshie, not glad for 38 y/o Oshie.

Agree, this signing will start off looking good, but WSH will eventually regret it.

Montreal Canadiens signed Karl Alzner (5 Years / $4,625,000 AAV)
I had Alzner signed at $4.5MM on ArmchairGM teams months ago and got grief from some of you who felt he'd be worth $6+. Bully for you guys.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Justin Williams (2 Years / $4,500,000 AAV)
They owe him money for getting them a Cup so its a fair deal that I like... Figure he wanted to play for a team with a shot to win... So he must figure Carolina did enough moves to least get back in the Post Season. They should be better in net if nothing else even if not a big fan of Darling :).

I would consider this a little but the Canes have cap space to burn and two years isn't going to break the bank for anyone. Solid signing.

Washington Capitals signed Evgeny Kuznetsov (8 Years / $7,800,000 AAV)
Maybe they will make a movie called Bowling for a Lockout about all these insane contracts then act surprised :). I thought JOhansen was crazy to want like 8M, he might end up getting it at this rate. I wonder if Shattenkirk is kicking himself for not getting at least 7M or so now ;). Its funny they couldn't even get him to take 62M, they had to add the extra 400K :). If anything I thought this guy was taking step back not forward so maybe I'm confusing with another russian or whatever ;).
