OEL and more
I agree with the principals of the trade as in the only way I’d want OEL on the hawks is is Arizona took Seabs but with that being said it’s still an overpayment imo and doesn’t help the hawks need which is actual defense not just a great pure offensive dman like OEL

Yeah i could see that bc Murphy does have a bit more skill but Mansons physicality and compete level is something that the hawks need to rub off on their young players

Crow isn’t retiring and would cost as much to sign him and a good 1B guy like Khudobin or Greiss as it does for just Holtby, plus he’s better come playoff time, especially with lots of rest (which he’d get splitting games) like we saw this year

I honestly question your fandom of the team if you think this trade makes us better.</div></div>
We have two options, let Pius Suter play on the second line, or leave Strome with absolutely nobody on the third.
Murphy looked like he should’ve been using a walking stick this postseason, Nylander had 0 points and was healthy scratched so I’m not sure why you think that we should keep those guys over someone who is easily better than both of them.

Hire Laviolette
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>Colliton probably gets one more year, so I doubt Laviolette is available that long. On the other side, I think one more year away from hockey would be perfect for Monty, and see if he's ready next year. He was the guy I was hoping would replace Q in the first place, but because they couldnt make up their minds in the summer we lost out on him.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RamonDaze</b></div><div>I think the only way Colliton is fired and Nylander traded is if Bowman is fired, which I know is certainly not a deal breaker for a lot of fans, hah. I'd think Laviolette and Gallant would at least be considered by a new GM, if that they decided to move on from Bowman.
I know he didn't look good a lot of the time, but Nylander did just play his first full season in the NHL and is 22. We all would have liked for him to play better this last season. It's a touch early to give up on him in my opinion.</div></div>
If Colliton doesn’t get fired would you rather see Montomery brought on as an assistant with the possibility to replace Colliton or wait and see who’s available next year, which likely includes Montgomery in that case

I honestly want to see something like this just not on my hawks, I feel like if they ran all four lines during the regular season to lower injury risk come playoff time they’d just play the top two and score like 15 goals a game

Why though, I know we’re getting rid of Smith and Saad needs to be moved before he walks but we’re just taking on a big contract for a player who turns 30 next season and a depth center that we don’t need with three top 6 C’s and two good prospects in Kurashev and Barratt.

I’d rather see what our young defensmen can do than move strome but respect for recognizing Kurashev, though I think Barratt is more suited to jump in this year bc of his physical play and seeing him and highmore on a line would be loads of fun to watch.

From a hawks fan point of view I’d take that trade in a heartbeat, gives us extra D depth and a younger winger that can’t just walk at the end of his contract for one that will and a prospect that’s too young to tell what he is.

If Tampa wants to get a younger player who can be just as good at his highs for a older injury prone player then they can get a 1st line LW to play with Point and Kucherov along with other pieces. I don’t watch Tampa that closely but from what I’ve seen and hear Point and Cirelli would still be a great 1-2 punch.

I’m in the half of hawks fans that’s still high on Strome and I’m probably in the minority that wants to trade a roster player for a higher pick but I would rather move one or two of Saad, Murphy, or Nylander with our 17oa for a top 10 pick, presumably in a larger trade.

I was thinking about this but I think he deserves a shot in the NHL more and I don’t think he gets that with Mitchell coming in and Seabs coming back, if the team knows Seabs isn’t going to be healthy enough or they move Murphy for a higher pick/winger then i could see Koekkoek getting extended, which you’re right he deserves.

It’s a tough decision after Maatta’s playoffs and I think Bowman values him more considering that he gave up more and traded for Maatta first, but I didn’t love Maatta in the regular season and DeHaan looked good when he wasn’t injured, also wondering how much Maattas chemistry with Koekkoek affects his play.

Fr, I was so torn when we beat EDM, like I was glad that the young guys could get experience but, idk why EDM had to choke so hard, and Mercer would be a good consolation to Quinn because hes also a dynamic talent, but It seems like Quinn's stock is falling a bit since his rose so much during his season and I think a lot of scouts are going back to guys they liked more before the season so the hawks could have a real good chance to l̶o̶s̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶E̶d̶m̶o̶n̶t̶o̶n̶ I mean trade up.

Yeah, him probably going to Nashville is another reason i'd want to trade up, If Seabs is good to go and Regula probably only needs another year then I could see the Hawks trading Murphy, i'd want to keep Pittsburghs second so we can get another good player, and so someone could bite on Nylander even after these playoffs, or otherwise potentially Saad in a bigger deal since its basically a guarantee that he has to walk in FA in 2 years which would also mean we'd need to keep Caggulia for wing depth.

lol, I hope that Quinn would just drop to us but i'd be willing to give up a lot to trade up for him, also idk enough about Amarov and i think we should take the best RW/right shot forward with our first pick since three of our best forward prospects are all lefties and we're adding Suter.

Saad should be on the LW since he’s a left shot, the hawks have only used him on the right side rarely since we have no Right shots other than DeBrincat (LW) Nylander (LW) Dach (C) and Carpenter

The hawks need a top-6 RW. If they miss on Jack Quinn or Alex Holtz from their pick falling they should look for a trade like this if Seabrook can be more than just a warm body, and if most of the younger guys in Rockford and college can make the team.
Also if you’re trading for the best player in a trade you likely need to overpay a bit.
