Buffalo Sabres signed Mattias Samuelsson (7 Years / $4,285,714 AAV)
This type of contract is needed right now if they want to have some good-value deals in their (future) contention window. Might be steep now, but in a few years, they'll be glad they did it early.

Jason Robertson
Don't think they would accept a 1st with protections.
I don't know if this gets it done either.
I think buffalo has a bevvy of good prospects but a trade to get JRob would take some of our great/excellent prospects.
Imo I would rather develop Quinn peterka savoie power, than to trade for an established guy like JRob.
Mainly due to the strength of the Atlantic. Does Jrob make buffalo a top 4 team ehhh probably not on paper.
But it would be an exciting swing to take, I certainly wouldn't mind it.
But it would probably be 2023 1st and Quinn

Going into the season
Nice job, we all have our ideas on how to set the line up, Granato will make up a better line up than we will.
Hard to break up the Skinner/Thompson/Tuch line.
Girgensons seems to be a winger now, while IMO Cozens may become a 2022 version of Mike Peca.
Over all certainly a possible line up.

The time will be in 2-3 years when buf will have too much nhl ready talent and they will need to move young pieces. They will have a choice to make a major upgrade or, trade for futures to keep the pipeline strong

Columbus Blue Jackets signed Jack Roslovic (2 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Crazy66</b></div><div>Walks him straight to UFA, IDK man. I get hes from there so its probably not as big of a deal as Im making it, but if I were columbus id like another year or two</div></div>
If I had to guess negotiations were pay me 5.5-6 mil for 6 years or pay me 4 mil for 2. CBJ chose the shorter contact and Jack gets to cash in again when the cap starts going back up in 2 years.

I believe Rutta is a hidden gem few understand. Buffalo does need to look for those roll players with grit who can block shots and hand out big hits on the regular. Rutta has proven to be that kind of guy.

This is a very fair trade, slight edge to Anaheim because I really like Helleson but this works for both teams. Good trade.

Good try though.</div></div> I completely agree with you both.
Too many TML fans unfortunately move Holl off of the roster for nothing or even with a pick, so the average Sabre fan thinks he is a cap casualty.
I would imagine he would be a very good partner with Dahlin.
If Miller had not played hurt I would imagine his stats would have been his career best.
Regardless, on this date Holl, Robertson and second for Miller far from a fair deal.

Yeah, that too
If we didn’t have all this good young goalie talent,
then it would make sense to give someone like Samsonov a shot
But not in our current situation

UPL has earned his shot, and if he doesn’t work out we have Levi & Portillo nipping on his heals
I think we should be bringing in a solid Vet to pair with UPL for a couple seasons
Samsonov is too young & inconsistent to mentor our young goalie talent imo</div></div>

He might not be on IR just yet, but he will be out about a month. Chatfield has been an excellent step in, and unless there is another injury, heaven forbid, there is no true need to go out and acquire a DeAngelo replacement.

Canes pass. There is no need to rush and acquire a useless piece just for them to get waived. Pysyk isn’t that good to begin with, and Chatfield has proved he can handle an NHL workload, and the Canes will just run Chatfield until DeAngelo gets back.
