Jack Roslovic has signed a new contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Walks him straight to UFA, IDK man. I get hes from there so its probably not as big of a deal as Im making it, but if I were columbus id like another year or two

If I had to guess negotiations were pay me 5.5-6 mil for 6 years or pay me 4 mil for 2. CBJ chose the shorter contact and Jack gets to cash in again when the cap starts going back up in 2 years.
Amazing deal for what Roslovic brings. The only down side is that it walks him straight to UFA, but maybe by then Columbus will be a contender by then.

Agreed. AAV is on point, just wish it would’ve been longer. If I had to guess, I think Jack is banking on his higher-upside warranting a big payday sooner rather than later.
Rosy had made it known well enough publicly he wants to stay with CBJ - hometown kid, childhood team and all. Coming from someone who follows the team, it doesn’t really concern me.
I think unless the team absolutely crashes and/or the relationship with the front office sours for some reason, I don’t see him leaving.
Hard to imagine he didn't want a long term deal. So I doubt the UFA expiry status held much weight. CBJ probably doesn't trust him to put up solid numbers 4-5 years from now. I'm a little surprised he didn't get at least 3 years.
Fair AAV
But for the Jackets, I would've preferred 4 y @ 4,25m
As right now, the jackets don't have cap problems, so they can give that to him, but lest say in 2 years roslovic is worthy of 5,5m, and the jackets are up against the cap. Not ideal.
For Roslovic, this is a fantastic job. Takes him straight to UFA at the end of this deal

2 years being his UFA year is a coincidence imo. This puts them in a position where they'll be negotiating contracts for Rosy, Sillinger and Johnson all at the same time and Voronkov might be with the team. It would suck to be in a spot where Sillinger, Johnson and Voronkov have earned the top 3 center spots and you have to pay Roslovic 4+ mil to play 4th line. Sure, they might have to end up paying him more if he earns a top 6C spot, but I think paying him a bit more when he has earned it is a better scenario than being stuck with him as an overpaid bottom 6 guy.
