I love Brady as a player but he's as good as gone. Been a great Hurricane but they aren't going to be able to afford him nor do they want to give him the term he'll be looking for and offered on the open market. Orlov isn't going anywhere until the rest of the D-core shakes out.

The Blues have seen him up close this season, so he's not paying for retention with a 6th. And yeah, KK is just a pass altogether. At least from me. As for Morrow, other Blues fans are higher on him than me. I don;t think he matches the specs of what they need. But yeah, some Blues fans would happily take the 1st and Morrow. I'm holding the line on what I'd want in a Buch trade.</div></div>
I think all of that is fair. From a Blues perspective I think I would also want a little more. This proposal is more where I think the Canes would go to, not this is the amount it would take to actually push something across the finish line.

Fully agree.
My breakdown is the 1 & Morrow for the player, the 6 & Suzuki for the retention, the 4 to take KK as I agree he's probably a net negative to most teams right now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Is Buchnevich really going to get more than Jake</div></div>
I think he would simple because there is less pressure to be moved. Pitt had to make a deal or risk losing him for nothing. Buchnevich has a reasonable cap hit and the added year on the contract.
My thought was you move KK our for the added cap space Canes will need next year, Essentially Morrow and a 1st (would have to move to 2025 first if Canes make finals)for the player and the 6th and Suzuki for the retention.

That's fair, just don't see them being the type of team to pay the extra trade value for retention unless it was a requirement to fit the player in. It's not needed this year and with the UFAs they have they can work with his number number next year. Would essentially be an even swap when Teravainen's number comes off the books opening up some top-6 W money for them.

You can keep the retention, Carolina wouldn't need it. Also no way Nikishin is in this deal.

The Sens Are Not Trading Tkachuk - But If They Did

Year 1 - 68 GP 40P (Playoffs 14GP 8P)
Year 2 - 82 GP 39P (Playoffs 15GP 10P)
Year 3 - 59 GP* 47 P* (*and counting)
Yes, Brady took a jump between year 3 and 4 as he matured physically and while we can't forecast the future, there is no logical reason to assume that Jarvis won't continue to improve as he develops.
We could take a look at their playoff performances, well actually....
I'm not suggesting that Brady doesn't hold more value than Jarvis but it's not as outlandish as some of you make it. Contracts & roster construction also play a large role in determining 'value' hence the Canes refusal to part with Jarvis in a package for Timo Meier last year.

If Pettersson is actually on the market could this get him
This is nearly impossible to evaluate as both teams would have to know extension details on Elias/Pesce/Necas. Assuming all 3 were extended on their new teams still feels a little light from Carolina. While I'd gladly do this if I were the Canes you'd probably need to swap Nadeau for Suzuki (Suzuki has very little value at this point IMO) and add another 2nd or comparable value.

I think the Canes would be interested in this. I say no way Pitt is retaining 1.5 a year for the remainder of the contract but I would absolutely see the Canes being interested in Rakelle at 3.5 per. Would be a cost effective replacement for Teravainen.

Saros to CAR
As a Canes fan I agree it's probably light on the package but also doesn't fit their needs. Not saying Saros wouldn't be a great upgrade in net, but they aren't going to carry 3 goalies next year so if something like this were to come together it would be Anderson who they'd likely move out and not Raanta's expiring contract. Beyond that, their GM just doesn't seem like the type to pay the cost to extend Juuse.

really good team with futures
To the, 'what is his value'
Dom L has his market value at 3.4M for this season while he's making 800K. He's far from an untouchable player, but I don't see a scenario where the Hurricanes would consider moving him this year. They are in an absolute win-now window where you don't subtract from your team. They wouldn't be interested in futures for him and it's hard to see a sensible return for him that would make their current roster better than it is with him.

if jarvis signs a bridge it'll be a 2 year one. no reason to pay chatty or dillon those deals with Morrow and Nikishin in the wings.
scratching Fast seems nonsensical</div></div>
I would agree that the most likely outcome of the D for next year is both Skjei & Pesce walking, Chatfiled(extended)/Orlov slides up as the 2nd pair, and we get a couple new guys plus Morrow for the 3rd pair.
The Jarvis bridge absolutely would be a 2 year; that's a fat finger error on my part.
The line combos are nothing more than just placeholders for contracts. I fully agree that Fast would see the ice over Drury/ Pono/FUS.

Pesce, at that price, i would like to see back but i could see him pricing himself out. Probably a small underpay on Jarvis. And Nikishin will hopefully be signed in the offseason so no need for Dillon.</div></div>
I agree that Teuvo, Martinook, & Pesce could all get more elsewhere; If they wish to continue with the Canes, that's just where I see their deals being. Very possible, if not likely, that they are all gone.
Jarvis is the biggest wildcard in the teams offseason plans IMO. You could go long term but that's going to come at a higher AAV and give you less space the next year or two when you're in this win now window. If you do a bridge deal with a lower AAV to allow a little more $ to go around now, you'll gain space to extend him long term once Burns/Orlov are off the books and you get cheaper replacements in Morrow/Nikishin.

Brad Tradeliving
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Maximporebski</b></div><div>Its funny that you say that, and yet Marner is better and more valuable than every single player on Carolina. Brodie was a top-5 defensive defender in the league this year according to JF analytics, he is a player that would fit in beautifully under Brind'Amour. Timmins is a third pairing offensive option in this league, he just doesn't fit the leafs system, especially with the signing of Klingberg which no one seems to like, including me. This is a fair trade because the 3 Canes players I added are free agents after next year, which reduces their value. Marner has 2 years of control and is a far superior player to anyone on your roster, he alone is worth close to the trio of Necas Skjei and Pesce</div></div>
If Marner is as godly as you've described, why is it that the team with him and Matthews (who I'm going to assume you hold in even higher regards than Marner) can't seem to complete with the old little southern market team. Please do explain Carolina's 32 playoff wins (7 series) over the last 5 years compared to the Leafs 16 (1 series). You all literally had Eric Tulsky in your hand, and sad, nahhhh we like Treliving. Would of been the best pick-up your team made all year, now the rest of the league gets to sit back and watch you unravel.

I don't disagree, this would be more of a re-build than a re-tool move and all indications are that they really don't want to re-build... I think it may be the better long term play but they still think they can build a roster to contend without hitting the full reset button. If they decide to reset, it because a little more realistic.

Problem is if you go any higher the draft pick compensation increases significantly. It's really a no lose proposition if you're the Canes with a bunch of cap space for the upcoming season. If you get him at that number, great. If the Oilers match, it only hurts them as they'd have to shed other contracts to fit him in.

Liljgren is a solid young defenceman, and the whole point of this trade is that Nylander > Necas, but Pesce is > Liljgren. However, the two players that are worse (Necas and Liljgren), are younger and will be easier to re-sign. This trade works for both teams if you actually think about it. If Liljgren was just as good as Pesce, then the Leafs would never offer this deal. Its called a hockey trade. Sometimes you need to trade your strengths to address your weaknesses.</div></div>
The Leafs win one round in a decade and they think they're the authority on what you need to win. You got beat by your own Zamboni driver, pipe down.
