shattenkirk is trash. get him out of there. I know Grzelcyk is a left shot, but he's a stud. Damn hockey east is unreal. For the most part very well done though. I can't really think of anyone aside from Grzelcyk that I think really deserves to be on here. Braun maybe?

2018 Active NHL Draft Team
Here's the way I predict the careers of these guys (way too early so I'm just laying out some guesses)
(1) franchise guy - Dahlin
(6) top line/top pair - Tkachuk, Kotkaniemi, Svechnikov, Zadina, Kravtsov, Hughes
(6) top six/top four - Hayton, Wahlstrom, Kupari, K'Andre, Bouchard, Sandin, Dobson
(5) bottom six/bottom pair - Lundestrom, Veleno, Farabee, Kaut, Foudy
(4) high risk/high reward - Denisenko, Bokk, Merkley, Boqvist
goalies - voodoo

TRADE DEADLINE
While I actually don't mind many of these moves, the Rangers can't retain that much salary. You're only allowed to retain salary for no more than 3 players for any given Season. You have salary retained for 4 players here, and that's not counting the money they retained earlier in the year to dump Spooner. Nashville has enough room to take all of Hayes contract. If the Rangers take most of Callahans contract, then Tampa could swallow all of Namestnikov's contract. Although tight, Leafs could probably take all of Mcquaid's contract. So it is possible.

18-19 Opening Night Roster
Few things:
1) Spezza will be the 2C to start the year. Whether he stays there long is TBD, but every indication from those close to the Stars is that he's going to get a chance to re-energize his career as the Stars 2C. Faksa will be the 3C
2) Given how well they played together last season, I'm almost positive that Pitlick and Faksa will remain together. That 3rd line of Comeau-Faksa-Pitlick is going to serve as the primary shutdown line for Dallas. That line worked really well last year, and they got better with the upgrade of Comeau over Roussel.
3) Top-4 on the defense look good, but Heiskanen will start the year in the NHL. Kid is too to play in the AHL. He's currently one of the best players in the world not playing in the NHL.
4) On the right side, Polak was picked up as a 7th defenseman. Barring injury or terrible play, he won't see much ice time. Honka will start the season as the Stars 3rd Pair RHD, likely paired with Heiskanen.

Boston Bruins Active Draft Team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>of the players on taht list, Chiarelli has traded two. Vlad Sobotka, and Tyler Seguin. Two. One of whom was in Russia in a couple years. The other brought a 30-30 two way forward and a presidents trophy team.
You're an idiot. The guy brought the Bruins from 5th worst in the league to a perennial power house in just a couple years, and built the entire team himself with the exception of Bergeron, who he re-signed....twice.
All he did was draft 18 of those guys, and build an elite cup contending team that had a solid 6 year window. That's very impressive in this age.
Learn before you type, bud.</div></div>
He also trade Kessel but that one was a terrific trade and terrible for Burke. I give credit where its due and I think a lot of the good players that are there are due to other guys work.
I thought he traded Hamilton as well but I was mistaken.
However, the Seguin trade was terrible and he's made a lot of other questionable calls as well. Hall for Larson, Gryba etc.
I think he got lucky in Boston. Had a good group to start with and then hit a grand slam on the Kessel deal and won a cup. He then systematically messed it all up with the seguin trade and was very soon fired.
Now he's in Edmonton trying to understand why trading fast talented forwards for big slow bruisers doesn't win cups anymore.
He's one of the worst GM's in the league.

Just stop. Getzlaf put up constantly great points in his entire career. Barzel isn't on his level yet. Bergeron is one of the best 2 way forwards in the league and is always in the conversation for the Selke. You're extremely biased

2018 Mock Draft 1.0
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DUgoalie09</b></div><div>Thanks for the comments. Good insight. Appreciate it. I actually was in debate about both picks you mentioned, so I totally agree. My obvious wild card is Tampa at 31 with Slava Demin. I'm sure he won't end up going in the first round, but with the recent success of both the University of Denver and Jim Montgomery players (Danton Heinen, Will Butcher, Henrik Borgstrom, Troy Terry, Dylan Gambrell, Ian Mitchell), I think he's an interesting wildcard. He was also ranking 32 for NA Skaters in the mid terms.</div></div>
Wild Card for sure, I can almost see him be picked by one of the California teams, where he’s from.

I made one up using players with at least one NHL game experience. Had to fill out the roster with undrafted guys who never played anywhere else. + Matt Read , Michael Raffl, Brandon Manning, and Mike Veccionne. I forgot Michael Chaput but put in Tye McGinn. I like this best active draft pick series, great work.
