Sure but Cal has less leverage and look at the other side of the players I named. Plus Debrincat and Fiala are what we have to use as a measuring stick
I am with you on Holtz at the very least, a 2023 1st, but then its a Bahl/Foote/Thompson/Grits/Walsh/Stillman/Muk (in no particular order) and maybe a mid round pick or not

My guess is nemec isnt an option, feels like nj wouldn't want to do holtz graves and 2023 first</div></div>
Holtz and next years 1st and a smaller piece than graves, with maybe something to eat up some cap space for us

I really like this young goalie tandem in NJ. They can also rely on a pretty good defensive group. That's definitely gonna be an interesting team to check out this upcoming year

I actually liked what I've seen from Foote, especially vs the Penguins. If he gets a bigger role, I think he could develop

I like the addition of Henrique
Tbh I rather have Foote and Holtz on the third line over the snake (Parise) and Johnsson

Henrique is worth more to us than to other teams. You have to remember that even if Ryan Getzlaf doesn't retire, Henrique is our only (semi-)effective veteran center. I don't think that a fourth-round pick is enough incentive for us to move him.

I fully understand why he’d do it for the stats and stuff, but how can you say all you want to do is win and sign with the team with the longest playoff drought? Shocking stuff to me.

Young Def tiers
Tier 1: Makar [Dobson, Bouchard]
Tier 2: Byram, Hughes, Drysdale, Sanderson
Tier 3: Smith [Broberg, York]
Tier 4: Soderstrom [Harley]
Smith was final cut in 2018 as 18-year old. He will be fine.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hischier4Captain</b></div><div>sure, but i'd expect you to also explain why hes not a 1C.
He's playing top line center on a bad team at age 21. He's not big but hes very strong protecting the puck and in the corners. He's extremely defensively responsible and is a leader in the room. His play gets better as the situation gets tougher, he can be counted on in all situations, and with all of this he's played through nothing but headwinds from both a teammate perspective, coaching perspective, system perspective, etc.
He's getting stronger each season and its beginning to show in the faceoff circle. On top of that he's playing more with the puck on his stick which is why hes scored more highlight type goals recently. He's 21 and only getting better</div></div>
Well. He is going into a slow start, and he isn’t getting a lot of points yet, he maybe able to be a 1C, but right now he isn’t going to be. I think he is a good 50-60 point guy who can play on the second line, and win face offs, and get a few points.

Right now, Nico is not looking like a top line center. It is possible that he is developing slower, but it is also possible that he never was meant to peak there. I see him as RNH comparable - the ideal 2nd liner but not somebody who will drive the top line.
I'll give you according to your name though, he does seem like more of captain material than any of your other prospects.</div></div>
I 100% agree with that statement.

Wood is 24 and an absolute wrecking ball. If he's smart, he'll train with a guy like oates and work on finishing some of the grade a chances he creates. Hes big, fast, and a matchup nightmare. you don't give away guys like that. on top of that youre trading a prospect to get back an awful pick. who does this help? we're not even cap strapped we have enough money to sign half a roster this offseason.
im undecided on the mcleoud trade, idc if we trade him tbh, i'm unsure if cole is the guy to package him for. Maybe, hes certainly having a fine year</div></div>
For me Mueller, Wood and McLeod all are players that we expected more from in the past. Sometimes it's just time to get behind something and that's why I'd trade all of them. But I agree with you: We are not forced (financially and all other aspects) to make any of those moves.
And if you look at my ACGM I've got 3 rookies/young players with very little experience in our bottom 6 and that's also very unlikely to happen.

All is bad. Miles Wood isn't a cap black hole. Why would we also trade a former 16th overall pick 4 years ago and a 3rd for an aging and injured defenseman?
