<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>The thing is, we have seen significant growth this year. Rasmussen has developed into a two way middle 6 after everyone had him locked into 3C ceiling or 4th line depth. Veleno is still maddeningly inconsistent but at least he has gotten much better at driving play up ice. Larkin has maintained his performance from last year, elevating the play of those around him. Copp has been better than the stats sheet indicates, and I don't think it was as much of an overpay as I thought initially. Raymond, after a slow start stats wise, is on pace to have a statistically better year than last year and a growth curve that is trending off the charts; he changes his game now based on his opponents and match ups. Seider is still a stud but he needs to make better decisions.

Maata has kind of played less noticeably well in the last dozen games. He just doesn't have the cohesion with a lot of players, and only seems capable of being effective when he plays with Hronek and whatever line Raymond or Copp is on. I don't know why, but I think Larkin is too unpredictably fast for Maata to process, and Kubalik and Rasmussen seem to get caved in a lot more when Maata is out there. Could just be a bad stretch of ga.es though.

Bertuzzi is doing all the right stuff in his return, but he is very slow now, and that is a problem. His slick hands are a thing of the past and I don't know if they will recover. His value is diminishing with each game. If all that is left is a great net front presence, 4 million might be an overpay.

Hronek is a tough call. He's been very good all year, even defensively which a lot of people don't give credit for. His offensive impact has taken a hit lately, as he isn't making the tape to tape passes as much. What is his next contract? Is it 5-6 million? If yes, then he stays, but I have a feeling he will want an 8x7 or more. He is performing like a top pairing but hasn't been deployed as such, so his value and performance is skewed some.

Walman absolutely needs to do a 3x3. It is best for him and the team. Seider is only getting better, and Walman makes him better. Against the Jackets, Seider made a poor decision to leave his correct positioning to miss a check. Chiarot did not cover for Seiders mishap, and instead gave Seider a look after the goal was scored. Why did Seider make that play? Chiarot was out of position before Seider moved out of position. Seider made the wrong decision to leave his position because Chiarot was out of position. Walman and Seider don't have these problems.

Hudson needs help. This is about where Ned fell off last year, and Husso might be to a point he will too. Ned has confidence back I hope, and this really needs to be a 1a and 1b deal. Husso is not a 60-70 game goalie, and i don't think there are many of those left anymore.

Bounces have been attrociusly bad this season. If it weren't for bad luck, there would be almost no luck at all. The PK is pathetic, and has only gotten worse. Fix the PK even a little and this team is in the playoffs right now. I really don't understand why the PK is so bad, the personnel should be right.

Changes will come, but this team is not as bad as it looks.</div></div>

I like bringing Walman back and the growth in the young guys is great but let's not overestimate the impact of guys like Ras and Veleno. The team needs to upgrade the talent. The growth isn't that dramatic. They had 42 pts and 18 wins last year at the midway point and guess what they have 43 pts and 18 wins right now half way through the season. It's looked better but it's still the same result.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>I like the boys too but just running back a team that's bad as it is isn't going to work. Maatta or Walman not both, Sunny gone, Bert's gonna be gone, hellberg gone, Erne probably gone, you really want to watch Hagg more. I'm going to assume Larkin is back but we should be worried by now.</div></div>
