Stop trading Marner or Nylander it aint happening
I think to fix the problems on this team, we need to trade one, and only one, of Marner or Nylander. Marner makes the most sense to move though. He costs too much, would get the best return, etc.

even with his injury, Johnsson is still a 40 point player, and is only 25. you have to think he gets a 2nd, maybe a little more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeyfanatic05</b></div><div>Lmao wrong. You said compare Kanes and Marner stats at their ages. So I did. You cried and complained and made excuses because Kane had better stats. Then I explained how successful Kane was in the playoffs and how he is a franchise player because even at a young age, he was winning and one of the main reasons they won. You, being an idiot, brought up Lafreniere for absolutely zero reason. How is he relevant to Marner? Why not bring up Eichel's stats? Well why did you only ask to compare Kanes stats and not Crosbys? hmmmm you continue to look stupid. Again, prove how Marner is a franchise player. I did with Kane. So now, its your turn.... Its fun proving how wrong and how much of a hypocrite you are</div></div>
I told you to pull up Kane's stats. In season, they are 100% comparables, proof is there. Then I gave a completely valid argument that playoff success doesn't exclude you from being a franchise player, which you still seem to dance around and not answer. So how about you quit being a coward and show me how someone like Eichel is universally considered a franchise player, and Marner isn't. Since you HAVE to be successful in the playoffs.
We are talking about franchise players, but not all are created equal obviously. If you only use the Crosby's of the world, there's probably only 2 or 3 franchise players today. which is faulty logic.

Saying "there's obviously more to it" does absolutely nothing. By all means, if Eichel is a franchise player, Marner is too. Look at numbers, look at success, whatever. There's no case that Marner isn't a franchise player if Eichel is one. And you can have more than one franchise player in a team you know. Shall I bring up Draisaitl?

Just like the other guy I replied to. Better call Edmonton and let them know McDavid, or call Buffalo that Eichel aren't franchise players. Man, how thick in the head can you be?
and if you're ok using Lafreniere's junior playoff points. Marner had 44 point in 18 games, in a single playoff run. So just admit you're wrong, or would you like a shovel to keep digging the hole you're in?

When you're Penguins lose to the Habs, which is far more hilarious than the Leafs losing to Columbus by the way, will Pittsburgh be in the running for a franchise player at the draft? Using your logic I guess not, since Lafreniere hasn't be successful in the playoffs yet lol what a joke.

In season they are easily comparables, get a grip lol
For the playoffs it's different. Chicago's stanley cup teams had a good mix of talent and depth at all positions. The leafs need to fix their defense, and stop blowing 3 geal leads. Not Marner's fault and definitely doesn't exclude him from being a franchise player. You have a problem if you think otherwise.

Cap crunch for Minnesota? What are you talking about? They have about 16 million in cap space this offseason with almost all their guys signed. They probably let Galchenyuk walk, and Koivu won't cost a lot. They'd have no problem taking 4 million for a FRANCHISE player. Maybe Kaprizov can be a solid 1st line winger, but he ain't no franchise player, that's for sure lol

Dumba and Kaprizov together is about 7 million in cap. So Minnesota is only adding about 4 million for a franchise player.

That's a hilarious list lol If you think teams like FLA, CBJ, NYR, MIN, ARI are GOOD teams, your standards are very low. He doesn't bump Aho or Trochek in CAR, maybe not even Staal. McKinnon and Kadri are better. No way in Vegas with Stastny, Karlsson, and even Marchessault. CGY Monahan and Backlund are better. So that basically leaves DAL and WIN where you'd be right, and neither are contenders.
So this just furthers my point. Let the kid develop properly, don't rush him. He's only 20 years old. How about I throw you an olive branch? Rotate Domi and Suzuki from your 3rd and 2nd line.

Domi > KK right now obviously but Kotka could pass him with an all around game as soon as next season</div></div>
It's just terrible asset management with what they are doing with Domi. He proved he can produce 70 points as a center, don't move him to the wing! The organization has the same vue as me I believe, since they aren't having him play there.
If they have already made up their minds that they are trading him though, maybe they shouldn't be playing him on the 4th line lol They can't wait one measly playoffs, that they have no chance at winning let's be honest, and have Domi play as their top Center, to boost his trade value? Again, terrible asset management.

Danault plays against other team top line EVERY night and still did 50 points. Suzuki’s gonna be Elite, he’s the real deal. Roll with Domi and Danault, one takes the offensive responsibilities, the other defensive. Have one of the kids as your 3rd line center and send to the other to dominate in the american hockey league until one of Domi or Danault fizzles. Which they aren't. Saying Suzuki is going to be elite is very different than saying his is now. Montreal isn't winning a cup any time soon, take your time with your prospects, but I guess this is Montreal we are talking about. Development isn't really their strong suit.
