Whats the deal with sidorov that is some excellent scoring to be taken in the third round? Does he have some large flaw?
Edited to clarify: ahh he's an overager</div></div>
What a garbage take on Maata... he's a fantastic defender and makes everyone he's paired with better. His offensive numbers are never going to wow, but that's not what his role is. Detroit isn't trading him anyways, so it's irrelevant.

Hmmm
Insanely hard pass from Detroit. We don't want Petry AT ALL. He is a negative asset, no matter how you try to spin it. The only exchange that's been floated on here that has ANY merit, is Chiarot for Petry straight up. Even that, a lot of us don't love, but there's at least a solid argument for it.

Red Wings Prospect ranking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>I just don't think Soderblom exceeds 3rd liner, unique or not. I think that's his ceiling. If he exceeds it, I'll be happy, but I think it's a safe bet that Mazur will be better. Betting on a "now" defeats the purpose of ranking the prospects.
Older ones will typically be better.</div></div>
Probably splitting hairs here, my point was that right now Soderblom is the better player and therefore, in my opinion, a higher ranked prospect.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>Mazurs tool set is an nhl one though. You can call Elmer a unicorn but that's if he plays and produces, until then he's just a big guy with hands who doesn't skate very well and we've seen plenty of those.</div></div>
Also, I think Soderblom has a higher ceiling than that. He's still very young and bigger bodies tend to take longer to develop, so it's not unreasonable at all to think he could still drastically improve his skating.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>Mazur will definitively be better than Soderblom and it's not that wild of a take.</div></div>
It's not that wild of a take that Mazur might be better long term, but Soderblom is FAR more proven at this stage, so it's kinda silly to say Mazur is above Soderblom NOW... also, I'm really high on Mazur too, but let's be honest, his toolset isn't exactly unique, whereas Soderblom is a unicorn

I still don't love it, but Detroit would have to at least consider that. That is literally the only trade scenario that sends Petry to Detroit that can be argued.

I'm having a little fun with the corpse comment, but he's old and can't stay healthy and you know it
The Petry to Detroit ACGMs are just beyond tired. We have less than zero interest, or use for him. The ONLY one on here that has had legs was Chiarot for Petry straight up (based on term and money) and even that one I don't love, but I can see the argument for it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensburgh571</b></div><div>Wow these wing fans really crack me up with their terrible takes lol . a top 4 dman with a 40 point pace is now a corpse ?? guess defenseman are all about offense now</div></div>
I was being hyperbolic. He's 36 this season, 38 by the end of his contract, and can't stay healthy. He's cooked and Pens fans know it, or he wouldn't be in every ACGM made.

Petry is a corpse with a terrible contract and we love Maata. I personally wouldn't take Petry for anything less than MAJOR compensation as a cap dump and Maata is worth more than a 3rd and a throw away prospect.

How?!? Did you not watch him last year? He was one of our best players once he got moved into that role, before he got hurt... I think people tend to forget that he only JUST tuned 24, he hasn't even come close to hitting his ceiling and was well on pace to at least 40-45 points before he got hurt and his numbers were even better than that when you break it down to the time he spent on the wing...

Yeah as far as Robby Fabbri is concerned, His surgery was only to clear up some scar tissue in his knee. he had said that if Detroit had made the playoffs. He'd be 100% in the lineup.</div></div>
Right, but for how long... I don't think it's a matter of "if", but a matter of "when" his next injury comes... camp, preseason, 5 games in? I love the way he plays and his desire, so I really hope I'm wrong, but I just have a gut feeling his career is over...

20232024 NHL Season opening night lineup
I still think Kasper is going to force his way into the lineup and slot in at 3c, then putt Copp on the top line at wing:
DeBrincat-Larkin-Copp
Rasmussen-Compher-Raymond
Berggren-Kasper-Perron
Kostin-Veleno/Fabbri-Sprong
I still think Fabbri will land on IR, even though they say he's 100%...
