Yzerman isn't stupid, We're not eating $6,000,000 for 4 seasons for Petry and garbage picks. If Yzerman was willing to waste a rentention spot for 4 years on Karlsson. The cost would be 5 times that offer. Petry holds no value to us and those picks are even worse and hold no value to us.

San Jose would take that deal. Detroit would not. Take Petry cap dump plus $1.5M of EK x 4 years for a 6th and a 4th? Nope.

One thing that would improve this armchairGM/trade machine tool is showing the cost over the remaining terms of the contracts. The way this is set up puts too much focus on the 1st year only.
