For everyone who keep saying theyll easily figure out there Cap situatiion
Coleman is going nowhere. The contracts on the 3 main rfa's are also off, as Tampa doesn't go for 6 to 8 year deals right after an elc. The 2.5 to 3 million they'll save from these valuations will allow them to have enough to sign guys like Stephens, possibly Maroon, a dman like Rutta or Bogo and guys like Verhaeghe/Joseph/Volkov to 1 or 2 year deals. They also have talented prospects like Barre-Boulet and Raddysh who could easily earn a spot next season. They'll lose Killorn, Paquette, Coburn and likely Johnson, plus maybe McElhinney if they can save 500-500k on a valid replacement. Things will be tight but not as bad as some make it out to be. Tampa can also buy out an ntc guy worst case to free up 2 million or so.

Bergevin struck out on all the big UFAs and put that offer sheet out in desperation to show owners that he's trying "everything" to improve the team. He knew they were 100% gonna match</div></div>
Tbh, he should’ve offered on Laine or Connor because Winnipeg is in a cap pinch

little cap relief
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jluqueSF</b></div><div>just curious (not trying to be a d*ck), but why is it that Point / Aho / Mikko are always signed for $8-9M max; yet Marner has to be $10.5-$11.
I get the taxation in FL, but in Toronto there is more availability for spokes person $ too.</div></div>
At least according to what reporters have been saying, Marner is demanding a contract like Matthews'. He wants one that will take him right to his UFA years and give him an eight-figure AAV along the way. He rejected 10x8, according to Sportsnet. So either the Leafs will have to go above $10m to get the term they want. Maybe he'll take 10x5, but he feels he should be paid like Matthews so even then, the Leafs would have to convince him to give in. If the Leafs can't convince him to give in, then his contract will look like the Matthews' deal, and either way, it's going to be close to that.
Point, on the other hand, is in a city without state taxes and where the expectation among all players is to take discounts and put the team first (not to mention the state tax advantage). He has said that he's committed to a team-friendly deal for the Lightning, and negotiations seem to be going relatively smoothly. I don't know all that much about the Rantanen situation and he could easily command a lot of money if he wanted, but considering the team the Avalanche have, that would surprise me. I never thought Aho was really on that level; he's a great player, of course, but is he on Point/Marner/Rantanen's level? He is a center, I suppose, so that brings up his value.
The big problem for the Leafs is that they have a massive media presence and irrational ideas (like Marner's value being greater than Matthews' every time Matthews goes a couple of games without scoring) that inflate everyone's perception of their own value. I'm also really wondering about the culture in the Toronto locker room. The Lightning have Stamkos as a captain, a player who has adapted his play style through tons of adversity, stayed with the team during the awful flashes, and took a discount when asked. Hedman followed suit with an even more extreme discount. Kucherov took a bridge for under $5m as a consistent 60+ point winger, and then took $9.5m as a 100+ point forward even as comparables pushed $11m. For all of his career, those are the players Point has looked up to, and nobody expects him to have issues following their lead in negotiations. Does Toronto have that kind of a culture? It doesn't seem like it.
