Aquire futures and still aim for a WC spot

Doesn’t make a difference if he uses all the retention spots anyways since they’ll be off the books after this season anyhow with potentially nobody else being traded.
With that being said, the Bertuzzi return is light. We could/should/would get more.

I like these trades. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Might be off on the return for Bert but it is not far off. I do think Bert's injuries hurt his stock. He missed time last year with an injury too. Maybe just a 1st for bertuzzi, but I like the trade and the rest of them too.

Do you want to start a war with Detroit? Because this is how you start a war with Detroit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I disagree with that. I think you can argue Marner, and I would hear the argument for Nylander. A lot of people overrate Seider right now. He'll be an elite D man. He's not that yet. That being said, he's got a LOT more value than Rielly, and Ned has more value than Murray.</div></div>
I think you’re missing the fact that Marner only comes with 3 years of contract certainty and Nylander 2 (before UFA).

If you listen quietly, you can actually hear the Red Wings fans on route to tear this AGM up.
There’s probably only one player in TOR with greater trade value than Mo Seider (that being AM34).

Barzal in 2023
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>If Fabbri was on waivers , isles wouldn’t claim him. Zadina is a perimeter player who likely tops out as a decent middle 6 wing, and Wallinder is nothing special.
You would have give more incentive for the isles to trade Barzal , this isn’t it. Not even close. I’ve never understood why fans on this site think quantity for quality is enough for a top line center in his prime
Would you take 2023 and 2024 1st (top 10 protected) , Bellows , Robin Salo, and Josh Bailey for Larkin?</div></div>
Wallinder is nothing special. 🤭
Your hockey knowledge is definitely nothing special.

Yzerman will wisely stay away from signing bad contracts this summer
That's fine but you're almost 9 mil under the Cap floor. Yzerman can't legally ice this team.

Husso has likely played himself into a bigger contract than we should pay... I'm all for Wedgewood.

Fiala and Holtz
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sledgie12</b></div><div>Not exact, but Devils did trade 10th Overall (Bo Horvat) for Schneider two years away from UFA. Fiala is real good, real good needs to go back to get him. I dont think the risk is worth it for the Devils all things considered but a 1 for 1 trade between these two is understandable from both sides.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Manure?
Show me one trade comp where a team gave up a top-prospect and a top-5 pick for a winger without a contract? Just one. Doesn’t have to be exact…closest one you got.
I’ll wait.</div></div>
Not sure why youre asking for a trade comp with a top prospect AND a top 5 pick. Nobody suggested a top 5 pick on top of Holtz
Reinhart is a decent comparable though. He got a top prospect in Devon Levi + a top 10 protected 1st. Fiala is a year older than Reinhart was when he was traded but he is also coming off of a 1.04P/GP year while Reinhart was scoring at a 0.74P/GP rate the year before he was traded

Detroit - Total Offseason
I like how you've evened out the lineup, though I would prefer to see Stephens over Erne. Also, Fabbri will be on LTIR for the foreseeable future and we'll need to spend more money than that.
It's certainly an interesting time. I feel as though we NEED a center via draft and/or trade, and it will be fun to see how Yzerman gets us to the cap floor.

Not trading for Dubois or EP40.
Don't mind the Pettersson acquisition.
Not sure how I feel about Blashill either.
Husso might get more money from a desperate team.
Definitely need to draft a centre, if not trade Hronek for one.... Dallas comes to mind with Johnston, Stankoven and Bourque. If the trade way happens I would expect to possibly draft a RD in this draft and centre next draft.
I wouldn't be opposed to a guy like Koskinen with Ned either, might be a bit of a dark horse on the market.
Either way lots of options, I don't think signing anyone is a good way to go right now, anyone worth while wants to compete. Although I am a fan of Trocheck and wouldn't be sad with that signing.

Just had an idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Detroit is in no hurry to grab a veteran LD. And they have no less than <strong>SIX</strong> LDs among their top dozen or so prospects. Besides, Vegas would need to add a ton to make this something Stevie Y does. He's no dummy.</div></div>
Only one of those prospects is even <em>close</em> to NHL action. Detroit needs bodies to fill the empty space at LD in this upcoming offseason, and Martinez should be a good fit, with his experience and pedigree. Leddy has not been putting up numbers that suggest he's a valuable asset, and Martinez is the better player at this point IMO. It makes more sense for Yzerman to get an asset back for him instead of letting him go in free agency.

Instead If Lindholm whos on the older side, I would target Hague and try to offersheet him to a 3-5y deal at 4.1M. Hes very good and has more room to grow. Also fits our window better.</div></div>
No doubt! Hague would be an awesome fit as well but may be harder to target obviously due to the offer sheet.
