<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>a right winger who can put up 50 points? Cool, except he's only put up 50 points once in his career. He'll get you 20 goals...or maybe he won't, like the year before last when he had 16, same as heinen in his rookie year.
Heinen is younger, far better defensively, far more difficult to play against, and is a puck battle monster.
Why are we giving up him, and futures, to get a guy who may, or may not, but probably isn't, fractionally better?</div></div>
If Heinen can do something more than get secondary assists then I think he becomes a much more valuable asset. At the moment hes on pace for a less than 24 point season and yes he’s young but based on watching him play this year he does not have the ability to make plays or even get himself into a scoring position. I personally believe Toffoli is not just “fractionally” better as I have watched him play quite a bit and know he is a three zone player but if you want to base it only on stats and age then we’ll say Heinen is more valuable than a guy who can score 20 goals in a season, maybe 15 minimum.

A stable right winger who can put up 50 points a year on a top line. Allows Pastrnak to shift down to second line and spark line 2. Contract expires in 2 years at same time as Backes contract ends.
Toffoli is also a finisher and finishes with around 20 goals a year. Heinen gets a bulk of his points off assists and does not in any way drive a line.

Offseason
Agree with above. Unless Donato hits a hot streak and scores around 15 goals this season, he won't be getting 3 mil, more like a 2 yr, 1-1.25 mil contract.
This lineup also becomes very young on the forward front if these moves were to be made. Between lines 2-3 the oldest player is 25.

I think they’ll see how things are with Krug in the lineup, maybe he drives the other 3 offensive lines chances by a marginal amount.
In terms of him getting traded, I don’t see it as likely especially after the dismissal of the rumors in the summer by Management. At the moment he seems like the most expendable player on the roster that can gather the greatest return. If he does get traded I would assume it would be next offseason.
If and when he does get traded, it will most likely be for a top 6 RW. Many think it will be for a top 9 C but at the moment the Bruins management seem reluctant to creating a log jam at C with Prospects such as Frederic, JFK, and Studnicka stepping closer to the NHL.

Agree with above. Swap of a 5th rd pick for a 7th is not enough of an incentive for any team to take Backes. Will take a prospect and a pick and at that point, and depending on who and what that is, I would rather just keep Backes.

True. It is a low sell on Heinen but like I said in the description it doesn't have to be him.
You're right, the Bruins do have a good group of young centers who could make the jump but you're looking at 2 prospects in the AHL and one in the OHL so Jankowski/Bennett are players that could be moved to wing if that time comes when they push for the 3C position and could slide into other roles barring injury.

That's fair, as mentioned in the description Heinen is just an arbitrary name. I've heard the same things about the defensive aspects to his game. Will say that his defensive game is still better than Spooners and Bennett seems to be caught on a team with Monahan, Backlund, Dube, and Ryan playing center. That's not including Lindholm, and Czarnik who are natural centers playing the wing at the moment .

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>But why?
Jankowski hasn't really shown much at the NHL level. We have better center option in Providence, so why not just use one of them instead? I also don't put much into Heinen getting scratched for a game. The kid was scratched last year, as was Jake DeBrusk. Donato was scratched this year, as was Anders Bjork...doesn't mean a thing.</div></div>
I have always liked Jankowski's game. He's a rangy center who has a pretty good shot. Hence, how he scored 17 goals last season playing 3rd/4th line. The point of this was to say watch the game tomorrow night if he's in the lineup and gauge from there to see if he would be of benefit. I personally have not watched him play since last season so I can't say if his development has dipped.
Will be interesting to see how Bennett does as well, another center playing the wing in Calgary right now.
The options in Providence have had a rough start to the year as well in their first 5 games so it would be something to keep tabs on.

Puljujarvi for Heinen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>You know I'm a big Heinen guy, but I'd do it. I look at a guy like Pool Party and question how much is him and how much is it the organization. I mean we're talking about a team that has had how many #1 overall picks in the last 10 years and they are still struggling to do anything. They have quite possibly the best player in the game and still didn't make the playoffs last year. The one thing Boston does lack is a big winger with skill. I love Heinen as a player (as I've made it known), but if Pool Party comes to Boston and hits his potential, Heinen for Pool Party would be a steal.</div></div>
I agree with that and the fact we would have a clearer idea by seasons end. The Bruins are lacking that big right hand winger with skill that they've been missing since the days of Horton and Iginla and failed to successfully replace with the likes of Hayes and Connolly. Tough to say what Puljujarvi is right now and is still tough to tell what Heinen is but that's what makes it a gamble and I think it's one the Bruins can afford to make a bit later down the road. You also know Chiarelli is on the other side and isn't afraid to trade away former top picks just because of their draft spot.

RNH and Josh Anderson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>I've yet to find a single person who can bring any legitimate reason that Anderson for Heinen is a good deal for Boston. Heinen is the better player between the two, so why even make the deal?</div></div>
See what you don't understand is that's your opinion. You can't just make a statement saying Heinen is better because he has more skill. It's about preference and it's called armchair GM for a reason, you show how you would like the roster to look and what potential moves can be made.
So just because you prefer Heinen over Anderson, doesn't mean this trade is terrible in the eyes of others.
I don't think the Bruins need to become a team of pure physicality but I do think an addition of it in their top 6 or top 9 would benefit the team granted that physical player is fast enough and has the ability to finish plays around the net. The reason for a trade with Heinen is the Bruins have a glut of young left handed wingers and if you are willing to diversify the types of players you have on your roster, then this trade makes sense. If you would rather have 3 left handed wingers and sit one out each game because none of them have shown the ability to play the right side then no this trade does not make sense.
So if you do not agree with that position, then that is your choice but you can't say there is no valid reason to make this trade.

I like the Heinen for Anderson trade. Gives the Bruins a right handed RW for lines 2/3 that brings a heavier game than Heinen. Something the Bruins don't have in the top 9 outside of Backes.
But just wait, you're going to hear the arguments about Heinen being a 50 point player and Anderson being a 30 point player.

First trade I can see being a legitimate trade that would benefit both sides. The second trade is a bit of a stretch unless St. Louis starts to fall off the map mid season and is hovering around 2nd WC in the west. Right now they don't have much of an incentive to make a shift.

3. What on earth makes you think he is worth danton heinen?
4. What makes you think he deserves 2.5 per year?
5. This contract likely results in cap overages due to bonuses.
I don't mind the idea of going after ritchie, but give up less, pay him less, and play him less.</div></div>
Honestly what makes you think Heinen is a top 6 player with how he has played to start they year. Even Nordstrom, what shows he's a top 6 player. Thing is the Bruins don't have another top 6 player who can slide in. Even if Ritchie plays on the third line, I can see him contributing more than Heinen is.
Again I say it's my opinion but if you think Heinen is top 6 quality which he hasn't shown over the last 2 years and you truly think he's going to be one within the next year then I'm all for it. I'm just seeing it how it is right now.

Correct. As said in the description, I personally would rather bring in a young power forward than have Heinen when there is Bjork and Donato showing greater potential at the moment. Even though Donato sat out last game, his issues in the defensive zone are teachable to overcome.
That's just what I would rather see.
Heinen will probably be sitting out one of the next few games, potentially tonight against Detroit. 2 shots in 4 games with 0 points and being nearly invisible is a tough go

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Well, on Zboril...he had a monster second half in providence last year. Started out shaky, figured it out, and really dominated for the last 35 games or so. His curve has been a sharp one of late. He's a high end prospect, not as high as he was when he was drafted, but high end nonetheless. I think he's a guarantee to be an NHLer, a probable middle pair guy, with a very slim chance at being more than that.
Kuraly is what he is, a really good grit guy. Bottom six for sure, but can play at least two positions, hits, kills penalties, and chips in offensively. There's value there. oh, and he's cheap, and has some term.
Grizz isn't a PP specialist. He has 2 powerplay points in his NHL career. Last season he barely sniffed PP time, and only if there was an injury. He's a gritty guy, I think he's a lock to be a long term NHLer, top four potential, signed, with term, oh, and he's cheap.
Cehlarik is the gamble for sure.
I just don't see that being a fair move for a good 3rd line center, and an okay second line center for a couple months. Sure, they could extend him (i wouldn't want them to personally), but he isn't extended, so the trade value is that of a rental.</div></div>
Fair enough. I wouldn't want them to trade for him either. If you look at this as a rental, then you have to look at Karlsson to San Jose as a rental as well. The trade doesn't make sense for the Bruins but we also can't assume it's a rental. Teams tend to make lateral moves to shift the cap space when deals such as this are done. The reason Grizz isn't a PP specialist at the moment is because Krug is there. The minute Krug is out of the lineup, much like tonight, Grizz gets the spot on the 1st powerplay unit. Its tough to be a 5'9 defenseman and stay in the NHL if you can't bring an offensive upside.

That's a matter of opinion. At this point we've seen limited improvement in Zboril since his draft year and though it may take him longer to develop, that development curve has had a very elastic slope. Kuraly will never be any more than a 3/4 C and will be 26 in January, and Gryz will always be a PP specialist. not a top pairing guy. Cehlarik I see as having a gamble value as he has shown glimpses of being able to produce at the NHL level.
Sure Duchene may be a UFA but that's not to say he can't be resigned. I still wouldn't make the trade because IMO the Bruins would not be a good fit, but you can't say the value is completely off.

I agree, even though the deal seems pretty fair (maybe swap a player for a pick), Duchene plays a similar, more skilled style, as Spooner does and he never really fit into the Bruins system.
